1000 In Coopertown Without Power Monday Night

COOPERTOWN TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – On the heels of back to back power-outages in the Greenbrier area, MORE over 1000 CEMC Coopertown customers are without power this evening.

According to officials, the power went out around 9:30pm. According to 911 dispatch there are no reports of trees down or motor vehicle accidents in the area.

CEMC has been notified and is at present looking for the issue. The high temperatures increase the demand for power which tends to find weaknesses in power-grids.

Fortunately CEMC has the equipment and staff to get to the bottom of the issue quickly as they have in the recent storms.

UPDATE: Officials just told Smokey Barn News that they have located the problem, a down power line. How or why the line fell is not known. CEMC crews are working quickly to repair the line.

UPDATE: 11:10pm CEMC has restored power. Total time, under two hours.
