2 Hospitalized Following Four Car Fiery Crash On Hwy 49W

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a four vehicle accident that occurred on Hwy 49W at Burts Crossing MAP The call going out to 911 around 8pm Wednesday evening.

Burts Crossing sits about half way between Springfield and Coopertown.

When crews arrived two of the vehicles were engulfed. Crews from Pleasant View Fire quickly put out the flames.

According to Captain Trey Nelms with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, the call went out as a trapped occupant but by the time his team arrived good Samaritans had already removed the occupants from the burning vehicles. Within minutes one vehicle was a ball of fire.

Nelms told Smokey Barn News that two people were transported to area hospitals but no one sustained life threatening injuries.

Hwy 49w was closed for about two hours while the THP conducted their investigation. The THP has yet to release a cause of the accident.

Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, Pleasant View Fire, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office Robertson County EMS and the THP all responded the call.
