Three Shot (One Dead) In Fatal I-24 Shooting Early Sunday

CEDAR HILL TENNESSEE; (Smokey Barn News) –  Around 2am Sunday morning, authorities in Robertson County responded to I-24 regarding a call about a possible shooting.

When police arrived at the scene (near the exit 19 MAP) they found three males with gun shot wounds and the vehicle they were driving appeared to have been hit by gunfire.

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Montgomery County Deputies are currently investigating the shooting.

According to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, one of the shooting victims has died.  “The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting incident that took place on Interstate 24 early this morning near the 19 mile marker. There were three people injured, one of those victims has died and the other two are hospitalized. We are in the early stages of this investigation and will have more details to release as the investigation proceeds.

“We can release at this time that this incident does not appear to be random and we have determined that the victims are from Nashville and were headed back there from Clarksville.”

Officials tell Smokey Barn News that all three victims appeared to be in their late teens to early 20’s. All three were transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.  One of the victims that was initially critical later died. The other two sustained non-critical injuries.

According to officials preliminarily, the incident took place on the East bound side of the Interstate but no further details were available.

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department and Robertson County EMS all responded to the scene.

The east bound side of I-24 was reduced to one lane for about two hours and then completely for closed while authorities conducted their investigation.

We are still waiting for an official release from the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office on the identity of the three victims.
