$4,000 Heist At Solid Waste Facility Sparks Changes

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to Robertson County Mayor Howard Bradley, more than $4,000 was taken in a burglary at the Robertson County Solid Waste Facility on Sunday.

According to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office PIO Ryan Martin, the Sheriff’s Office is investigating the burglary that occurred Sunday morning around 2:18am at the landfill which is located at 2916 W County Farm Rd inSpringfield, TN. MAP

The thieves allegedly gained access to the scale house. Once inside they allegedly destroyed a safe and masked cameras, ultimately escaping with $4,400 in cash and checks, Mayor Bradley said.

Mayor Bradley told Smokey Barn News that at least two people were involved in the burglary.

Since the burglary occurred on a Sunday, about 28 hours elapsed before the break-in was discovered by employees and reported.

Insurance will only cover about half of the loss Bradley said, and he’s working to set up an over night deposit procedure with a local bank to reduce future risks.
