A Greenbrier police car was broken into and a AR 15 semi automatic rifle and ammunition were taken early Tuesday morning, according to Greenbrier Mayor Billy Wilson. The cruiser was parked at the officers home at Piccadilly Apartments on Windsor Green Boulevard in Goodlettsville, TN which is in Davidson county. The suspect broke the front passengers side window, then gained access to the trunk where the weapon was stored. Apparently other police cruisers have also been burglarized in Nashville.

AR15Until the suspects are apprehended it is advised that local officers keep a closer eye on their vehicles.

One question Smokey has is what method did the suspects use to locate the police cruisers given the random nature of their locations across the area. Metro police were not prepared to comment on the subject when we called this afternoon, but we are still waiting to talk to the head investigator. The representative we spoke to said they were not aware of that aspect being investigated.

According to Josh DeVine over at WSMV News 4 “At least two local police departments are changing policies.” One of which is Greenbrier.

lunaNashville detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating accused car burglar Edward L. Luna, who is now wanted for breaking into three vehicles, one of them a marked Metro Police car.  Luna is also wanted for questioning in connection with a series of law enforcement car burglaries in the Nashville area since Monday.

Specifically, Luna has been linked by forensic evidence to Monday’s burglary of a marked car that was parked outside a sergeant’s West Nashville home.  The unit’s computer was damaged and a shotgun was stolen from the trunk.  Luna is also suspected of burglarizing a private citizen’s automobile near the police car on the same night.  A third motor vehicle burglary warrant accuses Luna of breaking into and stealing from a private citizen’s car at Percy Warner Park on June 13th.

tidwellLuna is thought to be in the company of two other individuals wanted on outstanding warrants.  They are Kevin Tidwell, 19, a convicted auto burglar who received a two-year probated sentence just last year.  Tidwell is wanted for failure to be booked on a  misdemeanor citation.  The state is also preparing a probation violation warrant against him.  The other individual who may be with Luna is Austin Dodd, 17, who is wanted for escaping from state authorities in April.

doddAnyone seeing Luna, Tidwell and/or Dodd is urged to immediately contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.  Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or online atwww.nashvillecrimestoppers.com.  Those who contact Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.

Between Monday and Wednesday, five Metro Police vehicles, one Davidson County Sheriff’s Office car, one Metro Parks Police car and one Greenbrier Police car were burglarized while parked in various Davidson County neighborhoods.   Some weapons and assorted other law enforcement equipment were taken.  The investigation has led to the recovery of some of the equipment.
