Armed Man Surrenders After Standoff In Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, TENNESSEE. (Smokey Barn News) – An armed man who barricaded himself inside a Millersville apartment early Wednesday morning is now in custody.

The incident started at midnight Wednesday and didn’t end until 4:47am when a specially trained SWAT negotiator was able to talk the man out. Some residents of the Ridge at Green Haven apartments on Lewis Street and 31W MAP were asked to evacuate and spent the five hour ordeal in their vehicles.

The standoff started after Millersville Police came to check on the man after a concerned family member called authorities. When officers knocked on the door, the 48-year-old man reportedly slammed the door in their face and claimed to be armed with a gun.

After the man surrendered to police a gun was recovered. SWAT officers and Gallatin police, White House Police and the Sumner County Sheriff’s office assisted Millersville police with the situation. The man was taken to an area hospital for a mental evaluation, police said.
