Body Found In Building After Fire In Greenbrier
Smokey Barn News has confirmed that a body has been found in a building in Greenbrier this morning following a fire that started just before 1:22am Friday morning. The structure is located on the 1400 block of Nunley St in Greenbrier. The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office because there was no immediate understanding of how the fire started.
On the property there were three structures, a home and two outbuildings that were situated very close to the home. The two out buildings were destroyed in the fire but the Greenbrier Fire Department was able to save the home which only sustained minor damage. White House Community Station 52 and Ridgetop Fire also responded. At some point a person was reported missing leading investigators to consider that a person may have been inside one of the structures. The body was removed from one of the out buildings around 8:00am this morning.
Officials have closed off Church St. while they do their investigation. The home sits between Church St and Nunley St. Though the home address is on Nunley St, Church St provided better access to the fire scene.
The name of the individual has not been released and the fire is still under investigation. Look for Smokey’s video report later this morning.

GREENBRIER FIRE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE
On Friday May 16th at approximately 1:22am Greenbrier Fire Department responded to a call at 1407 Nunley St. regarding a structure fire involving two outbuildings behind the primary residence. The fire was brought under control at approximately 1:59am. Human remains were discovered in one of the structures. The remains have not yet been identified. The cause of death will be determined by the state medical examiner. The cause of the fire is being investigated by State Fire Marshal’s Office arson investigators.
