“C.W.” Dean, Jr. (Founder Of Dean Oil) Has Died He was 84

Clyde Willis “C.W.” Dean, Jr., 84, of Springfield has died.  Dean died on  Monday January 19, 2015 at Springfield Heights.

CW Dean bMr. Dean was born November 8, 1930 in Robertson County to the late Clyde Willis and Jessie Taylor Dean, Sr. He was a graduate of the Springfield High School Class of 1948. Mr. Dean was indeed a self-made entrepreneur.

Along with his wife, Betty Perdue Dean, he founded Dean Oil Company in 1959. They worked side by side, and their five sons worked in the family business as they grew up. In 1986, Mr. Dean turned the operation of Dean Oil Company over to his sons, and he and Betty founded Robertson County Funeral Home in Springfield that same year,  both businesses are still owned by the Dean family today.

Mr. Dean was a longtime active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. In later years, he moved his membership to North Springfield Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. He was a member of the Springfield Gideon Camp, and was the president of Michael Duff Ministries. Mr. Dean loved his family, his employees, and his friends. It was always his desire to see all of those that he loved to excel and be the very best they could be at whatever they chose to do in life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Henry Dean, and his sisters: Minerva Fuqua, Wilmoth Clinard, Nell Fuqua, and Margurite Clinard. Mr. Dean is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Perdue Dean of Springfield, his sons and daughters-in-law: Clyde and Scotty Dean of Springfield, Mark Dean of Springfield, David and Sally Dean of Springfield, Henry and Gay Dean of Greenbrier, and Bruce Dean of Springfield, grandchildren: Shannon Biggs, Suzanne (Mike) Jones, Brooke Funeral services ad 300(Gabe) Rawls, Jonathan (Amanda) Dean, Benjamin (Diana) Dean, Andrew Dean, Christopher Dean, Jessie Dean, Cole Dean, Will Dean, Emily Dean, and Caroline Dean, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday January 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Duff and Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Interment will be conducted on Friday January 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in the Elmwood Cemetery with Tim Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be Clyde Dean, Mark Dean, David Dean, Henry Dean, Bruce Dean, Jonathan Dean, Benjamin Dean, Andrew Dean, Christopher Dean, Cole Dean, and Will Dean. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Robertson County Funeral Home, Dean Oil Company, the Springfield Gideon Camp, Jake Leding, Gene Barbee, and Dan Borthick. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. There will be no visitation on Friday prior to the interment service.

Mr. Dean requested memorial contributions be made to the North Springfield Baptist Church building fund, or to Gideon’s International. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home
