UPDATE IF RAIN:

Kilgore Remembrance Rain or shine! If substantial rains come at 9 a.m., they will move the event to the large pavilion in the Cross Plains City Park, accessed by Hwy. 25 and Kilgore’s Trace beside the East Robertson High School. There will be sales of historical memorabilia, such as David Wright’s print of Long Hunter Thomas Kilgore, entitled “Beyond the Settlement,” (a fine art poster for $35), cookbooks, commemorative plates, and postcards.

Kilgore Remembrance 9am

Start your celebration of independence early on the 4th. Join the Cross Plains Heritage Commission for the Kilgore Remembrance Ceremony, 9am Thursday morning, at the Villines Cemetery just west of downtown Cross Plains for a flag ceremony, speaker on a history legend or face, refreshments and chance to see men and women in 1700s dress as the salute all of the flags our town’s founder, Thomas Kilgore, served under. Bring ear plugs for the kids and babies during the black powder salute.
