Driver Lifeflighted After Wreck On Mt. Zion Rd In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A driver in Springfield was Lifeflighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville following a two vehicle accident Wednesday evening.

The call came into 911 at 6:40pm, the caller stating that one of the occupants (a male) was pinned inside one of the vehicles. Firefighters from the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department responded and began the extrication. Within a few
minutes, the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire department was called in to assist due to the nature of the extrication.

After the driver was freed he was transported to North Crest Medical Center via ground and then LifeFlighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

The accident involved a Mini Cooper and a mid sized pickup truck. According to the THP at the scene, the pickup was traveling East on Mt Zion MAP when the two vehicles collided at the Thompson Rd intersection. An exact cause, or why the two vehicles collided is still under investigation.

After the two vehicles collided it appeared that the pickup left the roadway and collided with a tree entrapping and injuring the driver inside the vehicle. The driver of the Mini was not injured.

Mt. Zion was reduced to one lane for about two hours while officials investigated the accident and cleaned up the scene.

According to District Chief, Mike Bauer with the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, the driver of the pickup was awake and talking to medics during the extrication but details on specific injuries were not available.
