Flooding Across Robertson County Thursday (Video Report)

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to the Emergency Management Agency Director R.L. Douglas, about 10-12 areas across the county reported Significant flooding including the Ridgetop Park area around Lake Rd, Sandy Springs Rd, Hoods Branch and the Oak Pointe Subdivision in Coopertown, Jarrett Dr, New Chapel, Memorial Blvd and Central in Springfield, Hwy 49 East and Hwy 52 in Orlinda.

Orlinda Fire department on Hwy 49 was flooded inside. About 6-8 inches of water made it inside the building but operationally they should be back to normal after the water is cleaned up.

According to Springfield Fire Chief Jimmy Hamill, “There was also a possible issue with the gas and water separator at Hollingsworth Oil located on Memorial Blvd in Springfield as a result of flooding on the premises. As a precautionary measure, Springfield Firefighters add a vapor suppressant into the sewer system after the odor of a petroleum product was detected inside El Vaquero Mexican restaurant located adjacently.

“The restaurant was evacuated and natural gas disrupted to the business during that process to prevent combustion. Hollingsworth Oil provided booms to capture petroleum products to prevent seepage into the storm drain system”
