Garage Destroyed By Fire In Greenbrier Friday Night

GREENBRIER TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A garage located on Brierwood Dr in Greenbrier is a total loss after a fire that started around 12:39 a.m. Saturday.

Firefighters did a great job preventing the fire from spreading to three adjacent structures that included two homes and a smaller storage building. A local firefighter that lived near by was on the scene quickly and was able to make sure that no one was inside the garage.

The residents were home at the time of the fire. One of the residents told Smokey Barn News that they heard what sounded like an loud pop or explosion and they looked outside to see the garage engulfed in flames.

The resident said the last time anyone was in the garage was around 5:00 p.m. to plug a golf-cart into a charger.

Fire investigators say they are leaning towards an electrical issue as a possible cause of the fire but the fire is still under investigation.

According to Greenbrier Fire Chief Kyle Hamill, though Robertson County doesn’t have a history of fires being set or vandalism on Halloween Eve, investigators will be keeping that thought in mind as they look over the remains of the garage for a cause.

A fire in an outbuilding close to Halloween, kind of makes you think, Chief Hamill said but at the moment it doesn’t appear that anything is suspicious right now.”

Officials say no one was injured in the fire.

Robertson County EMS, Greenbrier Police, the Greenbrier Fire department, White House Community Fire, and Ridgetop Fire all responded to the fire.
