Historic R.C. Courthouse Windows & Doors To Be Auctioned Off

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Robertson County Mayors office has announced that, following Courthouse renovations, they will be auctioning off the original Courthouse windows and doors.

In 2007 Robertson County made the decision to repair the Courthouse instead of tearing it down in exchange for something more modern. The 4 million dollar decision to retrofit and update the old courthouse preserved a major piece of Robertson County history as well as the charm and beauty of the Robertson County square.

Part of the process of upgrading the old building meant that all the external windows and doors would need to be replaced with exact replicas that did a better job of keeping out the elements.

Now that the restoration work is completed, Robertson County is offering anyone with an sweet-tooth for historical items a chance to buy a little piece of history.

On Saturday, Sept. 16, the County will be auctioning off all the old doors and windows to any and all comers.

The auction will begin at 10 a.m. at UT Extension Office in Springfield located at 408 N. Main Street. MAP The UT Extension Office is adjacent to the Courthouse.

According to Robertson County Mayor Howard Bradley, each window and door will be auctioned off one at a time and there will be no reserve and no set opening bid price… Below are some photos of the lot.
