HWY 161 Crash In Springfield Takes One Life Thursday

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Around 1:30 am Thursday morning April 6th, the Robertson County EMS, Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, North Robertson Fire/Rescue, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 4900 block of Highway 161 just outside of Springfield.

The crash was discovered near Corbin Creek Greenhouse by a passing motorist and involved an SUV that had impacted a tree.

The lone male occupant, now identified as 30-year-old Donald Elmore Jr. of Boonville, Indiana, formally of Springfield TN, died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, according to Robertson County EMS Assistant Director, Russell Gupton.

According to officials Mr. Elmore had been visiting family in the area.

As far as a cause of the accident, the Tennessee Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation, as soon as they release their report we will bring it to you.

According to his online obituary, “D.J.” was born July 7, 1986 in Davidson County and had two children. He was a welder for Boilermakers Local 374, and was of the Baptist faith.

D.J. loved being outdoors, riding four wheelers, and was a devoted family man. D.J. is survived by his wife: Joni Nicastro Elmore of Boonville, IN, his son: Alexander Lee Elmore of Boonville, IN, his daughter: Autumn Nicole Elmore of Boonville, IN, his mother: Donna Felts Elmore of Springfield, his sister: Brittany Elmore of Springfield, and by his grandparents: Charles and Mary Felts of Springfield.The family request that memorial contributions be made to the D.J. Elmore Memorial Fund c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday April 10th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery in Glasgow, KY. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. (Full obituary) (PHOTOS) (Tribute video)
