Obituary for Tracie Scott

Tracie Scott, age 35, of Greenbrier, TN passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017. A Celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2017, 2pm, at Hillview Baptist Church, 1268 Springfield Hwy, Goodlettsville, TN 37072, with Bro. Michael Wheeler officiating. There will be a time of visitation with the family prior to the service from 12 Noon to 2pm. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Goodlettsville. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Tracie loved her children very much, spending time with her family, cooking, making jewelry, dressing up and looking pretty, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. Her favorite color was pink and she loved going to Center Hill Lake on weekends and vacations. A favorite way to spend time was playing Rock Band on X Box with her family and she always wanted to be the singer.

Obituary for Richard Aubrey Powers

Richard Aubrey PowersRichard Aubrey Powers, age 66 of Springfield, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Alive Hospice Skyline Madison Campus. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Chet Duke officiating. Burial followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with his cousins serving as pallbearers. The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

Mr. Powers was born August 17, 1950 in Davidson County to the late Russell Aubrey and Mabel Christine Berry Powers. He was a member of Coopertown Church of Christ, was a retired truck driver with UPS after 33 years of service, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was also a member of the 1969 graduating class of East High School. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Wayne Powers and William Donald Armstrong, and a very special aunt and uncle, Helen and Dalton DeSheles.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Cochran Powers of Springfield; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and David Abling of Seattle, WA; grandsons, Diego and Joshua Abling; sisters, Brenda Miller of Portland and Ellen Halliburton and husband Milton of Nashville; aunt, Betty Lewis of Hendersonville; uncle and aunt, J.W. and floral squareLouise Berry of Hendersonville; and mother-in-law, Anna Elizabeth Irwin of Portland.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Kirk Barnes and all the staff of Tennessee Oncology Skyline, the same day surgery staff at Skyline Hospital, the 3 North nurses at Sarah Cannon Centennial and Alive Hospice at Skyline Madison Campus.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Kelly LeBlanc and Rev. Frank Evans officiating. Burial followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Jared LeBlanc, Jason LeBlanc, Kyle Clark, Justin Mitchell, Walker Reynolds, Brandon Reynolds, and Dallas Reynolds serving as pallbearers. The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4 until 8 PM and Friday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

Mrs. Reynolds was born March 4, 1937 in Robertson County to the late Alvin and Vida Kirby Starks. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Franklin, KY and was a homemaker. She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a deep love for the Lord and gospel music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edgar Reynolds, and brothers, Eugene and Charles Starks.

Jimmy Larry ReynoldsJimmy Larry Reynolds, 72, of Springfield, died Monday January 16, 2017 at The Waters of Robertson. Graveside services were conducted Wednesday January 18th at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cross Plains, with A.J. Reynolds, Matt Austin, Jason Stewart, Larry Bush, David Bush, and Steve Maddox serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Mr. Reynolds was born November 30, 1944 in Robertson County to the late Virgil and Ruth Lassiter Reynolds. He worked share cropper and Cab Driver, and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Reynolds enjoyed collecting knives, guns, watches, antiques, and floral squarecars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Joyce Bush Reynolds, by his daughter: Barbara Reynolds., his step-children: Richie Escue and Lori Carver, and by his granddaughter: Leeanna Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Kristy and Steve Maddox of Springfield, step-son: Ricky Carver of Westmoreland, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Obituary for John Bentley Wray

John Bentley WrayJohn Bentley Wray Passed January 20, 2017 at home in Hendersonville, TN. Born November 18, 1926 in Russellville, KY. Survived by wife, Judy Aaron Wray, step-daughter, Andrea Simmons Polla (Magnus) of Fjaras, Sweden, grandson, Zachariah Djennas of Fjaras, Sweden, and 13 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Elwood and Nell Pedigo Wray; sisters, Ann Wray, Helen Sprague, Adeline Howell, and Nancy Moran.

Johnny served honorably in the U.S. Navy in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW and a 70 year member of the American Legion Post 5 in Nashville. He worked as a sales representative in the electronics field, and later worked in real estate sales and appraisals.

Visitation and life celebration with family and friends on January 24, 2017, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Austin & Bell Funeral Home. A private interment will be floral squareheld at Red Oak Grove Church Cemetery in Russellville, KY at a later date.

Mr. Spain was born October 26, 1945 in Robertson County to the late Artha and Vadie Eden Spain. He was a self-employed construction contractor and was a member of the Logan Mill Apostolic Church.

In addition to his parents Mr. Spain is preceded in death by his brothers, James and Johnny Spain; and sister, Marie Roth. Lewis Lee EnglesLewis Lee Engles, age 73 of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. He taught in the Sumner County School System for forty years, and was a church organist for sixty years in Davidson and Sumner Counties. He was a long time member of the Hendersonville Rotary Club, the Nashville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, graduate of Peabody College, and received his Master’s Degree from Belmont.

He is preceded in death by parents, James & Leah Engles. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Grubbs Engles; brother, Jimmy (May) Engles, Jr.; brother-in-law, Geno (Deborah) Grubbs; several nieces and nephews & great nieces and nephews.

A visitation was held on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Austin & Bell Funeral Home and Saturday, January 21 from 12:00 noon until his Celebration of Life Service time at 1:00 PM at the Hendersonville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Hutchinson officiating.

Family and friends served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Hendersonville Morning Rotary Club.

Mr. Choate was born August 28, 1928 in Robertson County to the late Ernest and Rosa Lipscomb Choate. He worked for Avco (Textron) for over 30 years and after his retirement became an avid painter. Mr. Choate was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving 3 years and was a member of Lutons’ United Methodist Church in Goodlettsville.

In addition to his parents Mr. Choate is preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Choate and sisters, Mary Tolalah, Louise Bell, Margaret Durham, Edna Darby and Frances Garrett.
