Obituary for Vincent Bagwell, Sr

Vincent-Bagwell-obitVincent Bagwell, Sr., 86, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday July 7, 2016 at The Residence at Alive Hospice. Mr. Bagwell was born November 2, 1929 in Robertson County to the late Walter and Bessie Florence Ellis Bagwell.

He was an outstanding football player for the Springfield Yellow Jackets from 1947 through 1949. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and spent two and a half years in St Johns, Newfoundland. He married Juanita Clinard on October 13, 1950. He was a part of the family owned Robertson County Times and worked as a newspaper professional. Mr. Bagwell was a charter member of the Springfield Civitan Club, and had over 50 years of perfect attendance. He was elected as a Robertson County Constable for several years. Mr. Bagwell was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and the Unity Sunday School Class. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and photographer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson: Kyle Scott Bagwell, by his brother: Roy Bagwell, by his in-laws: Berlin and Marguerite Dean Clinard, and by his sister-in-law: Martha Ruth Clinard.

Mr. Bagwell is survived by his wife: Juanita Clinard Bagwell of Springfield, sons and daughters-in-law: Vince and Debbie Bagwell, Berlin Scott and DeAna Bagwell, Christopher Bagwell, and Patrick Keith Bagwell, grandchildren: Walt (Liz) Bagwell, Brett (Hannah) Bagwell, Kristin (Justin) Muller, Carden Bagwell, great-grandchildren: Bray, Rowan, Grayson, and Vincent,IV., brothers and sisters-in-law: Billy Wayne Bagwell, James and Jean Bagwell, Joe and Juli Bagwell, Bobby and Evonda Bagwell, Johnny and Sherry Bagwell, Barbara Bagwell, sisters and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth and Joe McClard, Norma Sowell, Nancy and Lewis Heatherly.

His remains rest at the Robertson County Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted Sunday July 10th at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Jerry Oakley and Brother Martin Babb officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Bill Bagwell, Derrick Bagwell, Dale Bagwell, Casey Hahn, Preston Hahn, Tim Bagwell, Jay Bagwell, Jamie Bagwell, and Danny Heatherly. Honorary pallbearers floral squarewith be the Springfield Civitan Club, the Springfield Baptist Church Unity Sunday School class, and the members of Springfield High School Class of 1950.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robertson County Historical Society and may be sent c/o the Robertson County Funeral Home 2201 Memorial Blvd. Springfield, TN 37172. The family received friends on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 noon until the hour of service at the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Obituary for James H. Dozier

James-Dozier-obitJames H. Dozier, age 76 of Greenbrier, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Alive Hospice Skyline Madison Campus. Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 8, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. H.D. Jones and Rev. Mark Carroll officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Leroy Sterry, Troy Bell, Lonnie Lane, Ted Jones, Danny Oakley, Don Hendricks, Wayne Kidd, and Billy Judd serving as pallbearers. The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4 until 8 PM and Friday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

Mr. Dozier was born February 26, 1940 in Davidson County to the late Henry Haskell and Evelyn Christine Hollingsworth Dozier. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was a retired machine operator at Dupont and Reemay. He loved to fish and hunt and spending time with his grandson.

floral squareHe is survived by his wife, Linda Baggett Dozier of Greenbrier; son, Landon Dozier of Greenbrier; daughter, Lori Dozier of Springfield; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Beverly Dozier of Cedar Hill; grandson, Aiden James Dozier of Springfield; niece Kerri Sayle and husband, Kyle; and great nephews, Jaxson and Dalton Sayle.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday July 9th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Frank Kirby officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Jeff Warren, Matthew Carver, Ricky Adams, Harold Hooper, Brad Clubbs, and Bubba O’Saile serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cothron was born August 6, 1938 in Robertson County to the late Arthur and Annie Lou Fuqua Barrow. She was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1956. She worked as a babysitter for many years and was a member of Greenfield Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Cothron enjoyed shopping, playing bingo, and floral squarespending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Mary Katherine Morgan.

Mrs. Cothron is survived by her husband: Leon Cothron of Greenbrier, daughters and sons-in-law: Cindy and Jeff Warren of Greenbrier, Christy Carter of Greenbrier, and Connie and David Ruck of Greenbrier, grandchildren: Mandy and Brandi Warren, Matthew Holland, Brooke Carver, Kody and Kensey Ruck, eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday July 6th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Ward officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Denson Cemetery with Michael Sprouse, Allen Sprouse, Tyler Sprouse, Brandon Sprouse, John Price, Dustin Johnson, Michael Johnson, and Colt Alley serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hand was born November 4, 1949 in Robertson County to the late Sidney and Beatrice Hicks Bilyeu. She had worked as a chair assembler at Hinkle Chair Company and attended Mt. Denson Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Hand enjoyed crocheting, playing the piano, reading her Bible, and spending time with her floral squaregrandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Penny Kay Johnson, and by her siblings: Lynn Biggs, Jimmy, Dan, and Bobby Bilyeu.

Mrs. Hand is survived by her husband of 49 years: Charles Hand of Springfield, daughter and son-in-law: Angela and Michael Sprouse of Springfield, brothers: Charlie, Joe, and Tom Bilyeu all of Springfield, sisters: Frankie Hunter, Elizabeth Roach, Brenda Douglas, and Tiny Mae Hand all of Springfield, grandchildren: Tyler and Brandon Sprouse, Darcey and Dustin Johnson, great grandchild: Bryson Alley.

Obituary for William Knight

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 o’clock am on Tuesday, July 12th, in the Brewer’s Chapel cemetery with Chuck Trimble, Jeremiah Gibbs, Michael Knight, Jeffrey Brown, Danny Knight, and John Wooten serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield from 4:30-8:00PM on Monday, July 11th, and again on Tuesday from 9-10:00AM.

Mr. Knight was born on November 15, 1948 in Robertson County to the late Luster and Lena Mae Knight. He was self-employed as a truck driver.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Gayle Knight; floral squarebrothers, Virgil Knight and Johnny Knight; sisters, Shirley Long and Maudie Crawford.

Survivors include his daughters, Theresa (Chuck Trimble) Knight and Jennifer Knight (Jeremiah) Gibbs, both of Adairville, KY; sisters, Lucy (J.C.) Cox of Adams, Kaye Knight and Louise Read both of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Kassidey Gibbs, Ashleigh Brown, Haleigh Brown, and Jeffrey Brown.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11am in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Todd Beard officiating. Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with The St. Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 4-8pm and again on Friday from 10am until the hour of service.

Mr. Beard was born May 27, 1922 in Montgomery County to the late Manuel Joe and Mamie Novella Brumley Beard. He worked as a road supervisor for Fort Campbell floral squareand was on the Board of Directors of the St Bethlehem Fire Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to his parents Mr. Beard is preceded in death by his wife, Reva Nell Gill Beard and his siblings. He is survived by his son, Robert (Janice) Beard of Antioch; grandchildren, Todd (Rebecca) Beard and Carey (Nathan) Horton; great-grandchildren, Leanna Edwards, Landon Horton, Edison Beard and Viviana Beard.

Mrs. Christenson loved to crochet, spend time with her grandchildren and she loved her church. She had been a member of White House First United Methodist Church since 1974.. Her friends and family considered her a “social butterfly”.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, David Allen Christenson, Jr.; sisters, Beverly Hunsaker and Pam Rudd; brother, Morris Rudd.

She is survived by her husband, David Allen Christenson, Sr.; son, Drew (Mandy) Christenson; daughter, Denise (Bobby) Thornton; step-daughter, Julie Abbas; 5 grandchildren, Hollie (Matt) Thornton, Brooke (Andy) Lanning, Wes Christenson, Cora Christenson and Cody Christenson; 5 great-grandchildren, Gabby Ferrell, Maddie Lanning, Emersyn Lanning, Cody Christenson, Jr. and Emma Christenson.

Visitation was held Wednesday, July 6, 2016 4-8pm and Thursday, July 7, 2015 9-11am at the funeral home.

She had an immense love for her family.  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Curly Phelps and Charlie Gray.

Marie-Hatt-obitMarie Elizabeth Hatt age 73 passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at her home from pancreatic cancer. She was born March 18, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. Predeceased by her mother Jennie Tarr Chubb and maternal grandmother, Bertha Tarr; grandson, David Allen Frizzell. She was seven when her mother died and was raised in Shepherd, Michigan by her grandmother until the age of 16 and then lived with her maternal aunt Mary Coons until graduation from high school in Midland, Michigan, where she lived until 2010 moving to Hendersonville, Tennessee.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gerald L. Hatt; sons, Curtis Babcock, of Roanoke, Virginia, Brian (Trisha) Hatt of Midland, Michigan, Mark (Amanda) Hatt of Hendersonville, Tennessee; daughters, Jennie (Alan) Frizzell of Tampa, Florida, Lynda Balhoff of Bay City, Michigan, Janee (Rod) Pickering of Phoenix, Arizona, and Sonjya (David) Rossow of Freeland, Michigan; Twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister Judy (Jack) Nicklyn of Saginaw, Michigan.

She is a member at Center Point General Baptist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Also, a member of North Point Church of God in Midland, Michigan, where she attended for over 50 years. She was active in Church activities and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is at home with Him now and with all those who passed on before her, both family and friends.
