Obituary for Todd Young
James Todd Young, age 54 of Cottontown, died Thursday, June 30, 2016 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owen officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Lance Woodis, Shane Stafford, Brad Woodis, Derek Wix, Daryl Wix, John R. Rippy, Jr., Len Chowning, Perry Bell, Larry Crocker, and Chuck Nance serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the King Soldiers Sunday School Class of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Brent Woodis, Daniel Pearson, Harold Pearson, Daniel Stewart, Doug Woodson, and Will Clinard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 3 until 8 and Sunday from 11 AM until the hour of service.
Mr. Young was born December 26, 1961 in Davidson County to Martha Woodis Young and the late James W. “Billy” Young. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and worked for Cook Utility Construction. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching them play sports and other activities.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Swearingen Young of Cottontown; son and daughter-in-law, Jason Todd and Kecia Young of Cross Plains; daughter, Lexi Young of Cottontown; grandson, Kason Young of Cross Plains; mother, Martha Young of White House; and sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and John Robert Rippy, Jr. of Cross Plains.

Obituary for Jackie Wilson
Jacquelyn Joyce “Jackie” Wilson, 62, of Springfield, died Thursday June 30, 2016 at St. Thomas West Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted Sunday July 3rd at 1:00 p.m. in the Bellwood Cemetery with Bro. Frank Kirby officiating. Pallbearers will be Morris Wilson, Stephen Wilson, John Kennedy, Big Bubba, and other family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home. There will be no visitation on Sunday prior to the graveside service.
Jackie was born January 8, 1954 in Robertson County to the late John R. and Geneva Johnson Kennedy. She was employed in housekeeping at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. Jackie was of the Missionary Baptist faith. She enjoyed collecting Snoopy memorabilia and working crossword puzzles.
Jackie is survived by her husband: Morris Wilson of Springfield, son: Stephen M. Wilson and his girlfriend: Stacey Hatmaker both of Springfield, and by her brother: John Kennedy of Cross Plains.
Obituary for Wanda June Whitfield
Wanda June Whitfield age 75 of Hendersonville passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 12:00 – 1:00pm at the funeral home.
She was born on July 29, 1940 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Lonnie and Frances Elizabeth Phelps. She was of Baptist faith and retired from the Hotel Industry. She had an immense love for her family.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Curly Phelps and Charlie Gray.
She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Lee Whitfield of Nashville and Frank Randall Whitfield also of Nashville; daughters, Lisa Yvonne Whitfield of Hendersonville, Frances Kay (Lloyd Keith) Sanders of New Market, Alabama; sister, Patricia Beauman of Donelson; grandchildren, Eric Daniel Breeden, Nathanial Keith Sanders, Nora Kamille Sanders, Zachary Whitfield, and Ryan Whitfield; her best friend, Sherry Williams. Obituary for Jesse Wayne Head
Jesse Wayne Head, age 81, of Pleasant View, died Saturday, July 2, 2016 at NorthCrest Medical Center. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 o’clock am on Monday, July 4th in EverRest of Cheatham with Bro. James Hayes officiating. His grandsons along with Jearmie Gupton and Eric Walker will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View on Sunday, July 3rd from 3-8:00PM. There will be no visitation on Monday prior to the graveside service.
Mr. Head was born on August 25, 1934 in Robertson County to the late John Thomas and Annie Mai Wilson Head. He was a carpenter and worked in construction. He was also a member of the Pleasant View Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica Billingsley Humston; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Campbell; sisters, Helen Head and Mable (Phineas) Carney; brother-in-law, Ray Walker.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Faye Head; daughters, Wanda (David) Billingsley, Sherry (Steve) Buchanan, and Christy (Rick) Gentry all of Pleasant View; sister, Mildred Walker of Pleasant View; grandchildren, Justin Billingsley, Rachel Campbell, Joseph (Corey) Buchanan, Zachary Gentry, and Regan Gentry; great-grandchildren, Isaac and Caleb Humston, Austin, Evan, Alex, and Kinsey Campbell.

He was born in Nashville, TN on October 21, 1948 to the late Claude M. and Lillie Mae White Clinard. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Fred Clinard and Perky Clinard.
He was formerly employed as a Metal Fabricator in the Roofing Industry and had served his country in the US Air Force. He loved fishing and hunting.
He is survived by children, Scott (Cassie) Clinard, Chad (Rebecca) Clinard; daughter, Robin (Gordy) Hawkins; brother, Claude “Sonny” (Betty) Clinard; 8 grandchildren and 1 on the way and Dianne Clinard. Pallbearers will be Scott Clinard, Chad Clinard, Gordy Hawkins, Kevin West, Steven Wilson, Eli Hawkins.
Obituary for Thomas Glenn Grubbs
Age 56 of White House passed away June 29, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center following a long illness. Mr. Grubbs was born in Nashville, TN on January 2, 1960 to Harold Maxie and Barbara Ann Carlisle Grubbs. He worked in vending machine maintenance. Mr. Grubbs enjoyed spending time with his family and they were a very important part of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents.
His is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sherry McIntyre Grubbs; son, Riley Grubbs, both of White House, TN; daughter, Tina Marie (Johnny) Baker; granddaughter, Savannah Rose Baker; both of Bell Buckle, TN; brother, Hal (Tina) Grubbs, Hendersonville, TN.
Funeral service is scheduled for 2pm Sunday, July 3, 2016 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Rev. H.D. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in White House Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation is planned for Saturday, July 2, 2016 4-8pm and Sunday, July 3, 2016 12-2pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Haley was born July 26, 1964 in Russellville, KY to the late Row W. and Audrey Williamson Haley. He was a 30 year veteran of Electrolux and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents Mr. Haley is preceded in death by his brothers, Row “Firecracker” Haley, Jody Haley, Jimmy Haley and Johnny Haley; and his sister, Carol Haley. Obituary for Pat Head Summitt (Patricia Sue Head Summitt)
June 14, 1952 – June 28, 2016 “You win in life with people.”
This is one simple statement that Patricia Sue Head Summitt embodied, lived by and passed on to so many throughout her 64 years of life. She ‘won’ every day of her life because of the relationships she developed, nurtured and cherished. Relationships with her family and friends. Relationships with players, coaches, and fans. And most importantly, a strong relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
On Tuesday, June 28 2016, Pat passed away peacefully, following a courageous battle with early onset dementia, “Alzheimer’s Type.” This disease attacked a lifetime of precious memories, memories that she has now won back as she rests in her eternal home. Memories that will live on in each and every relationship she developed throughout her life.
Born to the late-Richard and Hazel Albright Head on June 14, 1952, in Clarksville, Tenn., Pat was the fourth of five children. Her tireless work ethic was developed early in life as she handled a variety of daily chores on her family’s farm, while never missing a day of school. She worked hard to keep up with her three older brothers, who taught her the game of basketball – a game that would later become a passion and profession for her.
After graduating from Cheatham County High in Ashland City in 1970, she went on to the University of Tennessee-Martin, earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1974 and leading the women’s basketball team to two national championship tournaments. Her ability to be a leader on the basketball court was evident, and shortly after graduating, she accepted a position at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville as the head coach of the women’s basketball team – as a 22-year old.
For the next 38 years, the farm girl from Henrietta, Tenn. would impact the game of women’s basketball like no one in the history of the sport. She guided the Lady Vols to eight NCAA championships, 32 combined Southeastern Conference titles and became the winningest NCAA D-1 basketball coach of all time on March 22, 2005. She was named the NCAA Coach of the Year seven times and the Naismith Coach of the Century in 2000.
Pat also excelled internationally, as both a coach and player. As a player, she was a co-captain of the 1976 U.S. women’s team, earning the silver medal during the Olympic Games held in Montreal. She then went on to coach the U.S. Junior National and U.S. National teams to multiple championships and medals, culminating with a magical run as head coach of the 1984 U.S. Women’s Olympic team, leading them to the gold medal during the XXIII Olympiad in Los Angeles.
Of all the records, awards, and stats, Pat would point to one number as the most significant in her career – 161. This is the number of Lady Vols who contributed to the 1,098 wins over the span of her illustrious career. To these 161 student-athletes she was more than a coach – she was a friend, mentor and a loving mother.
Motherhood suited Pat, and on September 21, 1990, she and R.B. Summitt II had their first and only child, Ross “Tyler” Summitt. The relationship between a mother and son is a special one, and they had an unbreakable bond built on their love for God and for one another. They also shared a passion for the game of basketball, a game that would provide the two of them many unique moments and milestones, side by side.
She was most proud of one special moment they shared that outshines all the others. On May 5, 2012, Pat and Tyler were baptized together. On this day, they decided together to go public with their faith and professed their love for and acceptance of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. On this day, they created the ultimate and eternal memory, together.
Pat is survived by her mother, Hazel Albright Head; son, Ross “Tyler” Summitt (AnDe); sister, Linda; brothers, Tommy (Deloris), Charles (Mitzi) and Kenneth (Debbie).
A private service and burial for family and friends was held in Middle Tennessee. A public service to celebrate her life will take place at Thompson-Boling Arena, on the campus of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Details for the celebration of life will be shared at a later date.

Obituary for Lee Eugene James
Lee Eugene James, age 90, died Monday June 27, at NorthCrest Medical Center. He was born February 19, 1926 to the late Frank and Mabelle James. He was also preceded in death by brothers Robert, Jesse, and Thomas James.
Survived by wife of 67 years, Joan Knight James; son David Lee James (Nancy); daughter Leanne James Morris (Lanny); grandchildren, Dylan Lane Morris, Preston Odell James (Erin), Brandon Lee James and Chloe Leanne Morris. Lee was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His Army Service included serving in Philippine Island and occupied Japan during WWII. He was an accountant (CPA) serving in industry. He and Joan traveled throughout the US, Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, Canada, Mexico, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, and on many cruises. His hobbies were gardening, antique collecting and genealogy research. He restored and managed two family cemeteries. He was a member of: Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sons of the American Revolution, Robertson County Historical Society, Greenbrier Historical Society, Robertson County Senior Center and Builders Class at Connell Memorial Methodist Church.
Funeral Services were conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 30th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier with visitation one hour prior to service. The family received friends on Wednesday, June 29th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Reverend Paul Gardner and Reverend Rita Hays officiating. Interment was held at the Elmwood Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were grandsons, Dylan Morris, Preston James, Brandon James, nephew Todd James, Jack Baker and Ken Blanton. Honorary pallbearers were: Members of Builders Class, VFW Post 6993, Sons of the American Revolution.

Valera “Faye” Head, age 87, of Springfield, formerly of Chapmansboro, died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at NHC-Springfield.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 30th, 2016 at 1 o’clock pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Corey Minter and Bro. Tom Malone officiating. Burial followed in Mallory’s Cemetery with Daniel Head, Brady HuYoung, Tim White, Johnny Yates, Eddie Yates, Bob Yeager, Greg Baldwin, Ralph Lancaster, and Zach Spain serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the caregivers of NHC Home Health, Ray Gates, Dr. W. Michael Lewis, Billy Head, and Bobby Head.

Mrs. Head was born September 22, 1928 in Boaz, Kentucky to the late L.B. and Vera Adams Yates. She was retired from Equitable Life and a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, J.H. Head; and brothers, Dorcie and Wayne Yates.
She is survived by her sons, Don (Margaret) Head of St. Louis, Missouri, Phil (Diana) Head of Chapmansboro; daughter, Carolyn Head of Springfield; brother, Terry (Jo) Yates of Parsons, Tennessee; grandchildren, Alexis (Eric) Crabtree of Chapmansboro, Daniel Head of St. Louis; and great-grandson, Hunter Crabtree.

Linda Kay Campbell, age 74, of Springfield, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at her home.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 1, 2016 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Warren Scott Mann, Jerry Glenn Campbell, Jonathan May, Richard Roberts, Timothy James “T.J.” Mann and Kenneth Sowell serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday from 12Noon until the hour of service at 2pm.
Ms. Campbell was born August 7, 1941 in Robertson County to the late James Warren and Euree Gossett Rigsby. She was a caregiver, sitting with the elderly. She was always sweet and kind and was loved by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents Ms. Campbell is preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Warren Rigsby, her sons, Timothy McKee Mann and James Mark Mann, and her granddaughter, Susan Avery Campbell.
Ms. Campbell is survived by her sons, Warren Scott Mann of Springfield and Jerry Glenn (Mary) Campbell of Lynchburg, VA; daughters, Leigh Ann Chaney of Springfield and Dalette Deloiette of CA; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
