Obituary for Mack L. Fletcher Jr

Mack L. Fletcher JrOn May 5, 2017 at his home in Springfield, Mack L. Fletcher, Jr. left this world to go to his eternal home to be with his Heavenly Father.

A Celebration for Mack was held at 5 pm on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Springfield First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jerry Wallace officiating and Dr. Tommy Crunk, eulogist. The family received friends on Sunday from 2 pm until the hour of service at 5 pm at the church. Private burial was held with grandchildren, Kyle, Jake, Levi and Boone Fletcher, Katie Fletcher Lowe, Corey Beth Smith, Allyson, Rachel and Reese Payne serving as pallbearers.

Our beloved Mack was born on his mother’s birthday 68 years ago on January 13th, in Robertson County to the late Mack L. and Mary Elizabeth Lokey Fletcher.
Growing up in a Christian environment, on Sunday, June 14, 1959, Mack accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and joined the Adams United Methodist Church, where he served faithfully as Trustee, Chairman of the Board, numerous committees. When all the Cokesbury Hymnals were given in his honor for his love of singing in the choir his heart was touched, as well as when the Special Mission Recognition by the Adams United Methodist Women exemplifying his faith and dedication acknowledging that he was truly a prayer warrior.

Upon leaving his lifetime home in Adams and moving to Springfield, Mack was welcomed in to another church Family, Springfield First United Methodist Church, and transferred his membership on April 22, 2007, where he once again answered a calling to serve with the church’s Stephen Ministry team.

He was educated in the Robertson County school system and graduated from Jo Byrns High School in 1967. After graduation he worked with the State of Tennessee, until starting his career in the car business where he remained until retiring in February 2008 due to health issues.

On a Wednesday, November 22, 1967, Mack L. Fletcher, Jr., exchanged wedding vows with the love of his life, Frankie Ruth Richards. To this union two sons and a daughter were born. It was his joy to support and follow John Ed, James Mack and Mary Frank from T-ball to all the many sports they played throughout the years. However, none compared to worshipping and sharing his love of the Lord with his children, and when the three stepped out from the pew on April 22, 1984 and went down together to profess their faith and join the church, as their Dad, there was no greater feeling in the world.

Mack was truly touched by all the friends and family, too many to name, and you know who you are, who on this unexpected journey expressed so many acts of kindness, whether it was a visit, a card, phone call, text, food, especially prayers for him and his family, he loved you all.

He leaves to cherish fond memories a loving and devoted wife, Frankie Richards Fletcher; sons John Ed (Julie) Fletcher, James Mack (Emily) Fletcher; daughter, Mary Frank Fletcher (Lyle) Payne; nine grandchildren, Corey Beth Smith, Katie Fletcher (Josh) Lowe, Kyle Fletcher, Jake Fletcher, Boone Fletcher, Levi Fletcher, floral squareAllyson Payne, Rachel Payne and Reese Payne; two sisters, Mitzi Fletcher (Charles) Head; and Mona Fletcher Bryant; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other relatives including special friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to one of the following: Springfield First United Methodist Church, Adams United Methodist Church or Jo Byrns Athletic Club.

All donations may be sent in care of the Robertson County Funeral Home.
