Obituary for Ralph Fredrick Fayo Jr.

Ralph Fredrick Fayo Jr.Ralph Fredrick Fayo, Jr., age 75 of Greenbrier, died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Minter officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM and Thursday from 11 AM until the hour of service. Following the service his remains will be cremated.

Mr. Fayo was born December 23, 1941 in Beacon, NY to the late Ralph Fredrick and Mildred Eva Niver Fayo, Sr. He was a retired HVAC technician and worked for Cumberland Comfort Air for over 20 years. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy. When he was able, he loved to work outdoors and enjoyed his fish tank. He also enjoyed bowling when he was able. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Fredrick “Skip” Fayo, III, and a brother, Donald Fayo.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Stan Frey officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Steve Yates, Jimmy Pitt, Phil Henry, James Earl Freeland, Randall Carr, Rusty Graves, John Robert Rippy, and Jimmy Offutt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Barry, Tommy Jackson, Junior Smith, and Joe West. The family received friends at the funeral home Friday from 4 until8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM until the hour of service.

Mr. True was born February 1, 1924 in Cross Plains to the late James Moore and Mildred Hopgood True. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and was retired from Coca-Cola where he was a truck driver. He loved fishing and working on tractors and steam engines.

floral squareHe is survived by his wife of 73 years, Robbie Jean True of Cross Plains; son James William True (Viola Harrington) of Springfield; grandchildren, Mary Jean True, Lee True, Lori Tinsley, and Adam True; and great grandchildren, Noah Tinsley, Lidia Tinsley, Van True, and Gavin True.

Janice Marie Pike Kirkland, 77, of Springfield, died Wednesday May 17, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted Monday May 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating. Entombment will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Justin Dorris, Dusty Dorris, Joey Dorris, Tommy Dorris, Josh Henning, and Adam Pike serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kirkland was born October 28, 1939 in Robertson County to the late Sim and Mary Frances Rawls Pike. She retired as a stitcher from Pro Bags. Prior to working at Pro Bags, she had managed Dowlen’s Restaurant, and had worked as a waitress at both Vernon’s and Larry’s restaurants. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. She loved cooking, decorating, and spending time with her grandchildren. floral squareIn addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Jeff Kirkland, her brothers: Roger and Kenny Pike, and by her sister: Patricia Busey.

Mrs. Kirkland is survived by her husband of 57 years: Pete Kirkland of Springfield, son: Randy Kirkland of Springfield, daughter: Kim Dorris of Springfield, daughter-in-law: Dawn Kirkland of Springfield, grandchildren: Dusty (Amanda) Dorris, Tommy Dorris, Justin (Christy) Dorris, Joey (Jessi) Dorris, Shalona (Josh) Henning, and Jessica Traughber, and by 9 great grandchildren.

Mr. Collier was born June 27, 1953 in Nashville to the late James W.R. and Dorothy Ruth Morgan Collier. He was retired from Roadway Express where he was a truck driver.

Obituary for Elise Walker

Elise Wright Walker, age 57, of New Bern, NC, and formerly of Springfield, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 21, 2017 at her home in New Bern two years after being diagnosed with brain cancer.

A celebration of Ms. Walker’s life will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 10am at the Springfield First United Methodist Church with Brother Don Hutchinson and Reverend Jerry Wallace officiating. Burial will be held Thursday at 2pm in the Bryant Cemetery in Mooresville, TN with Jeff Foster, Clayton Hardy, Jason Hardy, Sam Wright, Ben Clemmer, Kyle Clemmer, Patrick Clemmer, Justin Walker and Tim Flowers serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 5-7pm and again on Thursday from 9am until the hour of service.

Ms. Walker was born April 6, 1960 in Tullahoma, TN. She was a native of Tullahoma and a 1978 graduate of Tullahoma High School. She attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics (1983) and Master of Science degree in Nutrition (1984). She was president of Sigma Kappa sorority.

She spent her early career as a food stylist for Southern Living magazine and then devoted herself to raising her children before returning to the workforce. In her later career, she held research & development and quality control positions with Electrolux and Bosch. She was a long-time resident of Springfield before moving to New Bern, NC in 2014.

Her children remember Elise as a wonderful mother who created a warm and welcoming home. She encouraged their interests and pursuits and was a fixture at their sporting events and dance recitals. She was an accomplished chef who planned and organized events for family and friends that were worthy of a Southern Living spread. She was quick to help anyone in need, and her generous spirit was accompanied by a remarkable sense of humor. Elise loved the outdoors and enjoyed seeing it best from the back of a horse. She adopted and provided a loving home for many animals, including retired police horse, Duncan, and Australian Shepherd, Cody. All who knew her will miss our beloved “Ese”.

Ms. Walker is survived by her son, Justin Walker and his wife Taryn of Louisville, KY; her daughter, Lindsey Walker of Goodlettsville, TN; their father, Jeff Walker of Springfield; and grandson, Jennings Walker of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by fiancé, Tim Flowers of New Bern, NC; parents, L.E. and Judy Wright of Tullahoma, floral squareTN; brother, John Wright and his wife, Lisa of Tullahoma, TN; sister, Emily Clemmer and her husband, Kyle, of Murfreesboro, TN; niece, Morgan Clemmer; nephews, Samuel Wright, Benjamin Clemmer, and Patrick Clemmer; and extended family and dear friends. Mr. Shearron was born December 25, 1934 in Cheatham County, Tennessee to the late Wilson & Mary Lucy Hunt Shearron. He was retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation and a member of Brewer’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Lee was born May 11, 1934 in Robertson County to the late Thomas Ewing “Jack” and Martha Elizabeth Mayo Teasley. She was kind and caring and loved her children and grandchildren very much.

Obituary for Anthony Nelson (Tank) Tate, Jr.

Anthony Nelson (Tank) Tate, Jr.Anthony Nelson (Tank) Tate, Jr., age 21 of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in Knoxville. “Tank”, as he was known by family and friends, was a loving and outgoing young man who could light up a room just by walking into it. Not only was he an outstanding athlete, but he was given the Outstanding English Student award his Junior year. He set several records at Pope John Paul II High School, and broke several weight lifting records that had been held for over 15 years at Hendersonville High School.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond Edward and Bobbie Ann Tate. He is survived by his parents, Francine and Anthony Tate, Sr.; his brothers, Alexander and Kathan Tate; his grandparents, Tennie and Kenneth Childs; his great-grandfather, Albert Lee Simpson; and his godmother, Jacqueline Harding.

His family will receive friends on Monday, May 22, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Tuesday, May 23, from 10;00am until his Celebration of Life service at 11:00am. All visitation and services will be at Hendersonville First Baptist Church with Pastor Deadrick Messanger officiating.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Coaches floral squareand Players of the 2014 HHS Commando Football Team.  Active Pallbearers will be Alexander Tate, Colt Cupid, Corey Jones, Brandon Childs, Gunnar Franks and Josh Edwards. Interment will follow at East Dickson Cemetery in Dickson, TN. at 2:00 p.m.
