Obituary for Charlotte Marie Crawford
Charlotte Marie Crawford, age 85 of Springfield, died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 21, 2016 at 6:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Ralph and Pastor Scott Dobbins officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 3 PM until the hour of service. Private burial services will be held at Mt. Sharon Cemetery.
Mrs. Crawford was born August 23, 1931 in Nashville to the late Ellis and Mary Anderson Holladay. She was a homemaker and a member of Red River Assembly of God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Lee Swaim.
She is survived by her husband, Ottis Freeman Crawford of Springfield; sons, David K. Crawford and wife DeAnna of Springfield and Eddie H. Crawford of Grand Rapids, MI; step-son, Steve Crawford and wife Peggy of Nashville; sisters, Mary Ellis Holladay of Ashland City and Martha Hester and husband Jack of Camp Hill, PA; and grandchildren, Danielle, Joshua, Cody, and Billy Crawford.
Obituary for Clara Mae Harris
Clara Mae Hill Harris, 92, of Madison, died Monday November 14, 2016 at Creekside Health & Rehab Center in Madison. Funeral services was conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Dobbins officiating. Interment followed in the Springhill Cemetery in Robertson County. The family received friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Harris was born October 8, 1924 in Robertson County to the late James “Jimmy” and Effie Stella Evitts Hill. She was a retired school bus driver with Metro Schools and was a member of Dickerson Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed making quilts, gardening, and was an excellent seamstress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Clyde Thomas Harris, Sr., by her brother: James O. Hill, and by her sisters: Louise Binkley and Elizabeth Sterry.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her son: Clyde Thomas “C.T.” Harris, Jr., of Madison, brother: Raymond Hill of Goodlettsville, sister: Edith Gladys Eden of Goodlettsville, and by several nieces and nephews
Obituary for Josie Burton Cox
Virginia Josephine “Josie” Heatherly Burton Cox, 82, of Springfield, died Monday November 14, 2016 at her home. Graveside services were conducted Thursday November 17th at 2:00 p.m. in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Tim Harris officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers. The family received friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cox was born July 11, 1934 in Robertson County to the late Willard McKinley and Louise Travis Heatherly. She was a retired nurse’s aide and a member of Grace Baptist Church. Mrs. Cox enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, and dancing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Paul William Burton and Albert Cox, her son: Wesley J. Burton, and her siblings: Thomas, James, Willard “Bug”, and Tony Heatherly, and Mary Frances “Sis” Harper.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Charles Wayne and Kathy Crabtree Burton of Springfield, James W. “Jimmy” and Amie Burton of Concord, N.C., daughter and son-in-law: Heather and Mike Hughes of Iron Station, NC, her companion: Charles Black of Cunningham, brothers: H.L. Heatherly of Gallatin, Johnny and Richard Heatherly both of Kentucky, Joe Heatherly of Joelton, sisters: Elizabeth “Bill” Anderson of Cedar Hill, Geneva “DeDe” Herndon of Greenbrier, Carolyn Dugger of Joelton, grandchildren: Ashley (Jeff) Saxon, Peyton Hughes, Jaclyn Burton, Jinny Kate Hughes, and Brittany Scott, four great grandchildren.

Mrs. Katherine “Kitty” Tootle Hannabass of Springfield passed away peacefully on November 12, 2016 at the age of 87.
Kitty is survived by her sister: Lillian “Linnie” Hickey of Ocala, FL, and her children: Lillian Trettin (Carl) of Mount Pleasant, SC, H. Hayden Hannabass III (Tommie Jean) of Lakeland, FL, Katherine Penney (Jeff) of Saltillo, MS, Julia Woodward (Barry) of Sheridan, WY, and Walt Hannabass (Beth) of Springfield, TN.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: James Hannabass, Dylan Trettin, Casey Penney, Kyle Trettin, Rachel Hannabass, Jesse Penney, Hillary Slabaugh, Katy Penney, and Marley Hannabass and her great-grandchildren: Hayden and Sterling Hannabass and Eliza and Amelia Penney. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Hayden Hannabass, Jr. her sister, Mildred “Happy” Beever, and her parents, William and Mildred Tootle.
Kitty was born on July 7, 1929 in St. Joseph, MO, to William and Mildred Tootle. She graduated from Hollins College and received her Master of Arts in English from East Tennessee State University. She married H. Hayden Hannabass, Jr. in 1950. After moving to Kingsport, TN, they started a family together. From 1954-1961, the couple welcomed 5 children into their home and Kitty set about teaching and caring for them. Her children remember her as a sweet and nurturing mother who loved them unconditionally.
Kitty was an accomplished artist and often exhibited her artwork on Mackinac Island, MI, her summer home. She was a generous individual who loved knitting and sewing and would often donate the items she created to numerous charitable causes. Music was also a passion for Kitty, and she often sang in the choir at church and played the piano for her family. She was an affiliate member of First United Methodist Church in Springfield, TN and a deaconess at Trinity Episcopal Church on Mackinac Island, MI.
A memorial service was held 12:00 noon on Friday, November 18, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Springfield, TN., with visitation beginning at 11:00. All were welcome to attend and celebrate Kitty Hannabass’s life.

Obituary for Rose Mary Jones
Age 62 of Springfield passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at NorthCrest Medical Center. She was born December 15, 1953 in Nashville, TN to Thomas Fred and Ezra Elise Barnett Davenport. She worked as a Daycare teacher and had a never ending love for children. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church, where she served as the preschool Sunday School teacher for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tommie Ray Davenport.
She is survived y her husband of 36 years, Robert Dale Jones, Springfield, TN; sons, John Robert (Jeanette) Jones, Springfield, TN and David Fred Jones, Greenbrier, TN; sisters, Martha Anne (Donald) Arrington, Cedar Hill, TN and Carol Frances (Dee) Goad Coopertown, TN; 2 grandchildren, Valerie Clara Jones and Rebecca June Jones, both of Springfield, TN.
Funeral service is scheduled for Monday, November 21, 2016 at 1pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House, with Bro. Daniel Dennis officiating. Interment will follow in White House Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation is planned for Sunday, November 20, 2016 2-4 and 6-8pm and Monday, November 21, 2016 11-1pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are requested to Samaritanspurse.org.
Robert “Bud” McClendon, age 87 of Greenbrier, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at NHC of Springfield, TN. Austin & Bell Funeral Home of Greenbrier is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bud was born February 27, 1929 in Greenbrier, TN to the late George E. and Marquerite Overby McClendon. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Carole McClendon and a sister, Elizabeth McClendon.
He was a Veteran of the US Army, a Baptist and was a Welder at DuPont.

Kim Elaine Napier, age 60, known affectionately as “Grammy”, died Friday, November 18, 2016 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o’clock pm, Tuesday, November 22nd, in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Pastor Chris Royalty officiating. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham with Waylon Stotts, Dylan Stotts, Noah Peppard, Rod Stotts, Christopher Peppard, and Scott Guest serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00PM, Monday, November 21st, and again on Tuesday from 11:00AM until the hour of service.
Mrs. Napier was born on October 1, 1956 in Lynwood, CA to the late Frank and Nellie Kostka Kogut. She was employed at Walmart in Ashland City for 28 years and was a Christian.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Linn Kogut; and mother-in-law, Bobbie Napier.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Napier; daughters, Tami (Rod) Stotts of Chapmansboro, and Kelly (Christopher) Peppard of Pleasant View; sisters, Connie Kogut of Palm Springs, CA, and Bonnie Drury of Barstow, CA; father-in-law, Robert Napier of Clarksville; sister-in-law, Debbie (Scott) Guest of Clarksville; grandchildren, Waylon, Dylan & Presley Stotts, and Ashley & Noah Peppard; great-granddaughter, Ruth Peppard.

Age 85 of Cottontown passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at her home. She was born November 21, 1930 in Eldon, MO to Norman and Maude Robbins Cotten. She was a member of Donelson View Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude Jackson Phelps, Jr.; granddaughter, Leanne Denise Wallace.

Randall was born in Nashville, TN on March 4, 1964 to Clarence Ray Williams, Sr. and the late Evelyn Kilpatrick Williams.
He loved Dale Earnhardt (#3), Coca-Cola, Wrestling and watching the Andy Griffith Show. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Douglas “Doug” Kay Strunk, age 60, of Joelton, died Monday, November 14, 2016 at his home. Funeral services were conducted at 11 o’clock am, Friday, November 18th, in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Paul Edwards officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant View Methodist Cemetery with Dustin Baker, Brandon Baker, Ryan Biggs, Matt Cowley, Heath Demonbreun, Ernie Louallen, C.J. Johnson, and Andrew Hardy serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Strunk was born on February 15, 1956 in Nashville, TN. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was a retired beloved auto mechanics teacher for the Cheatham County school system. He was a member of the Pleasant View United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Marilyn Baker and Gwendolyn Strunk.
Survivors include his wife Brenda Moore Strunk; son, Andrew Hardy of Clarksville; daughters, Elisabeth (John) Nguyen of Reston, VA, and Melanie (Matthew) Tucker of Bradenton, FL; parents, Ray and Jackie Strunk of Ashland City; brothers, Michael (Mary) Strunk of Wasilla, AK, and Steven (Lisa) Strunk of Pell City, AL; granddaughter, Allison Nguyen, of Reston, VA; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Frances Ellis, age 96, of Cedar Hill, TN, died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the home of her daughter. Funeral services were conducted at 1 o’clock pm, Tuesday, November 15th in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Billy Ellis and Bro. Barry Simpson officiating. Burial followed in Heads Cemetery with Lynn Bracey, Jason Ellis, Justin Bracey, Joey Ellis, JonBoy Ellis, Weston Bracey, Mark Ellis, and James Thomas Walker serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were her three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ellis was born May 27, 1920 in Cheatham County, TN to the late Jack and Mattie Shearon. She was a homemaker and a member of Heads Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, J.R. “Trick” Ellis; brothers, Eustace Shearon and Harvell Shearon; sister, Maurine Hunter; son-in-law, G.K. Pardue; and great-granddaughter, Judith Sloan Bracey.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Pardue and granddaughters, Lori (Lynn) Bracey, Jennifer (Jason) Ellis, all of Cedar Hill; great-grandchildren, Justin (Mary Margaret) Bracey, Joseph “Joey” (Rachel) Ellis, Jonathan “JonBoy” Ellis; Weston Bracey, and Jessica Ellis; great-great grandchildren, Leland Ervin, Justin Forrest Bracey, and Joseph “Baylor” Ellis.

Age 93 of Cottontown passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at NHC Sumner in Gallatin. He was born March 2, 1923 in Goodlettsville, TN to Lyman Leroy & Lena Irene Meeks Lassiter He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp and in the US Air Force during WWII, the Berlin Air Lift and in Korea.
He loved fishing, bowling and was an avid reader. He was a frequent visitor of the library. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dana Doyle; sister, Nettie Kemper.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Dodd Lassiter; son, Lyman M. Lassiter, Jr.; daughters, Karen Slunaker and Sheila Lassiter; 8 grandchildren, Ian Slunaker, Taylor, Slunaker, Hannah Doyle, Tristan Doyle, Lyman Lassiter, David Lassiter, Steven Lassiter and Heather Sloan.
