Obituary for Lynn Stollings Buskirk
Lynn Stollings Buskirk, 83, of Springfield, died Thursday September 1, 2016 at his home.
In honor of his wishes, his remains will be cremated and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Buskirk was born January 3, 1933 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Sydney and Lillian Helms Buskirk. He was a retired aluminum salesman from Easco Aluminum. Mr. Buskirk was of the Methodist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed playing basketball and tennis in his earlier years, but his favorite was always playing golf. He was a Civil War buff, and he loved stamp collecting.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Buskirk was preceded in death by his son: Robert Buskirk, his step-daughter: Patty Brown, and his grandchild: Stacy Clark. Mr. Buskirk is survived by his wife: Dolores “Dee” Vincent Buskirk of Springfield, his son: Eric (Shelley) Buskirk of Santa Monica, CA, his step-children: Ed (Debbie) Stutesman of Pierre, SD, Susan (Pat) Poston of Hutchinson, KS, Martin (Olivia) Stutesman of Springfield, Brad (Sandy) Stutesman of Pierre, SD, Stephanie Vincent of Gallatin, Mark (Ivanito) Tauscher of Phoenix, AZ, twenty grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren
Larry Dwight Farrow, 71, of Springfield, died Wednesday August 31, 2016 at his home. Funeral services were conducted Saturday September 3rd at 12 noon in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family received friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Farrow was born December 18, 1944 in Peoria, IL to the late Rollie and Frances White Farrow. He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years and retired as a Seargent First Class. Mr. Farrow served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Farrow enjoyed camping, traveling, hunting, and repairing lawnmowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Barbara Jean Farrow, and by his siblings: Russell, Fred, Leroy, Dorothy, Marie, Wanda, Mary, and Joyce.
Mr. Farrow is survived by his wife of 50 years: Sharon Moden Farrow of Springfield, sons: Douglas Farrow of Holley, NY, Matthew Farrow of Springfield, grandchildren: Hunter Fiegel, Trevor Farrow, Garrett Farrow, Rebecca Farrow, and Madeline Farrow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors.
Obituary for Vernedith Angeline White
Vernedith Angeline White, 55, of Ashland City, died Wednesday August 31, 2016 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday September 7th at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Greenbrier Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Ms. White was born October 13, 1961 in Buffalo, NY to John W. White and the late Barbara White. She had worked as an LPN and was of the Catholic faith. Ms. White loved animals, especially penguins and her beloved husky Titan. She is survived by her daughter: Alexandria Sams of Ashland City, father: John W. White of Ashland City, brothers: Kirk White Ashland City, Wayne White of Hattiesburg, MS, sister: Susie White of Ashland City, step-brother: Gary White of Franklin, KY, step-sister: Teresa Mayeur of Franklin, KY, nephew: Kaleb Thompson.
Obituary for Jimmy Grubbs Sr
James H. “Jimmy” Grubbs Sr, age 82 of Springfield, TN died Monday August 29, 2016 at the Waters of Springfield. Graveside services were held at 12 pm on Tuesday August 30, 2016 in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Dr. Bruce Grubbs officiating. Steve Perry, Randy Wilson, Ralph Bracey, James H. Grubbs Jr, John Grubbs and Joey Grubbs served as pallbearers. The family received friends at the Robertson County Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 am until 11:30 am.
Mr. Grubbs was born April 26, 1934 in Robertson Co. TN to the late William A. Grubbs and Eva Bell Brown Grubbs. A brother, Edward Brown Grubbs also preceded him in death. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Grubbs are his wife, Jo Evelyn Grubbs of Springfield; Sons and daughters-in-law, James H. and Terri Grubbs Jr. of Greenbrier and John Eric and Julie Grubbs of Portland; brother, Dr. Bruce Grubbs of Lebanon; grandchildren, Jamie (Tony) Forster, Joey (Julie) Grubbs, Jada Grubbs; and great grandchildren Rebecca Forster, Morgan Forster, and Miles Grubbs.
The family request if so desired, memorial donations may be made in Jimmy’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. All donations may be sent care of the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Nancy Jean Krisle Tabor of Nashville, TN, and formerly from Springfield, TN, went to be with Jesus on August 29, 2016 at the age of 88. Born at home on April 26, 1928 in Springfield, TN, she was the daughter of the late E.M. “Sam” Krisle and Ruth Lee Krisle. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1945 and from Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN, in 1950. Following college, she taught English at Greenbrier High School until she married on April 20, 1951, and moved to Bell Buckle, TN.
As the wife of a pastor of churches in Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky, she served her Lord by being very involved with church activities for many years including leading WMU, GAs, Acteens, and teaching Sunday School. She had a beautiful singing voice and was active in multiple church choirs. She had a servant’s heart and cherished opportunities to help others through food, friendship or just being there to listen. She cared about every person she met and loved them with her Father’s love. Her favorite things to do were to spend time with her family (six children), to faithfully pray for others, and to share Jesus with everyone she encountered.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, Sam and Ruth Krisle, and also her first born child, Stephen “Steve” Jennings Tabor.
In addition to her husband of more than 65 years, Paul Jennings Tabor, Nancy is survived by five birth children – one son, Mark and wife Connie of Lawrenceville, GA; four daughters, Pat and husband Scott Dakunchak of Suwanee, GA, Nancy “Nan” and husband Terry Goins of Franklin, TN, Paula and husband Bill Hall of Nashville, TN, and Sherry Tabor and “adopted” daughter Lisa Hudson of Hanceville, AL; grandchildren Cresta Tabor, Brett Tabor, Lauren Tabor, Ryan Tabor, Jacob Goins, Hannah Goins, Graceanna Hall, and Faithlyn Hall; great-grandchildren Knox Tabor and Stephen Tabor.
The family received visitors at Robertson County Funeral Home, 2201 Memorial Blvd, Springfield, TN 37172, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 2, 2016. Visitation was held at Oakland Baptist Church, 5740 Highway 76 E, Springfield, TN, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 3. Her celebration service followed at 2:00 pm at Oakland Church. Bro. Bob Carroll and Bro. Daniel Dennis will conduct the service. Serving as pallbearers are Mark Tabor, Scott Dakunchak, Terry Goins, Bill Hall, Brett Tabor, Ryan Tabor, Jacob Goins, and Steve Kelly.

John Michael Dean, age 56 of Springfield, died Sunday, August 28, 2016 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Memorial services were conducted Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 5:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Cody Dean and Bro. Bill McCabe officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Luke Groves, Will Dean, Skattin Bugg, Troy Woody, Clint Woody, RandyJoe Woody, J.R. Merritt, and Brad Woody. The family received friends Thursday from 1 PM until the hour of service.
Mr. Dean was born September 23, 1959 in Robertson County to the late James Roy and Cora Lee Whiting Dean. He was a member of Williams Chapel Baptist Church and was a truck driver for Beacon Transport. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Anne Dean of Springfield; sons, Cody Dean and wife, Demetria of Orlinda and William Dean of Springfield; sister, Wanda Emerson of Springfield; and grandchildren, Josiah, Jonah, and Jeremiah Dean of Orlinda.
Dona Lee Beu, age 73 of Goodlettsville passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at her home.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Greenbrier Cemetery.
She was born October 21, 1942 in Aurora, IL to the late Arvil and Genevieve Jones Baker. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Baker.
She was Director of Volunteer Services for Nashville Cares and a member of Covenant Confirmers.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lynn S. Beu; sons, Scott (Nancy) Beu, Michael (Kim) Beu; daughters, Shawn (Lance) Goddard; sister, Paulette (Mike) Smith; step-father, Willard Jeffries; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Age 47 of Goodlettsville, TN passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home. He was born December 31, 1968 in Nashville, TN to Ralph Preston & Mary Theresa Mayes Flint. He worked as a disc jockey and producer in the radio industry all over Florida and Georgia, with his first radio job being at Y107. He also worked at Tampa The Power Pig. He loved working in radio and he loved his little dogs. He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his sister, Theresa Nanney, Goodlettsville, TN; brothers, Rex Flint, Nashville, TN, mark Flint, Scottsville, KY and Phillip Flint Nashville, TN.
Funeral service was held Friday, September 2, 2016 at 1pm at White House General Baptist Church, with Rev. Larry Treadway officiating. Age 58 of Gallatin, TN departed this life Monday, August 29, 2016 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. She was born December 25, 1957 in Nashville, TN to Phinus Porter and Bertha Lee Turner Brooks Bell. She worked as an accounts receivable clerk for Ingersoll Rand. She is preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Ammon Thomas Brooks and Ottis D. Bell. She was educated in the Robertson County school system and graduated from East Robertson High School. She was also a graduate of Draughon’s Business College in Nashville, TN and attended Volunteer State Community College. Denise accepted Christ at an early age at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Cross Plains, TN, and was presently serving faithfully as associate minister at Parker’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Portland, TN.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband of 26 years, Sampson Williams; mother, Bertha Lee Turner Bell, both of Gallatin, TN; son, Lance Williams, Lafayette, TN; 2 grandchildren, Lance Kendrick Williams, Jr. and Addison Nicole Williams; sisters, Evelyn Jean (Cleophus) Payne, Springfield, TN and Rev. Linda M. (Dr. Eugene) Collier, Nashville, TN; sister-in-law, Frankie Richmond Brooks, Lavergne, TN; brother-in-law, L.V. Joseph Harold Shanes, age 86 of Hendersonville, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016. He was a beloved greeter at Walmart. He was the 99th person to receive his Master Plumbers license, and was the owner of Joe Shanes Plumbing Company.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great- grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah & Nellie Shanes; siblings: James Munroe Shanes, Elmer Russell Shanes, Gerald St. Valentine Shanes, Preston Shanes, Delmas Ray Shanes, & Linda Sue Shanes. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Aubreita Shanes; Children: Brenda (Johnny) Allen, Teresa (Jimmy) Wilson, Joel (Dawn) Shanes, Jerry (Tammy) Shanes, Melissa (Alan) Burroughs; brother: Virgil Earl Shanes; sisters: Betty Lou Glenn, and Jeanel Thrower; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.

He was born in Robertson County on May 1, 1918 to the late George and Esther Cothern Wilmore. He was also preceded in death by his wife, AV Carver Wilmore and a daughter, June Scott.
He served in the US Army and was a Factory Foreman. He is survived by sons, Randy (Brenda) Wilmore, Gary Wilmore, Richard Wilmore, Rex Wilmore; daughters, Judy Wilmore, Helen Jones; sister, Ethel Parker; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He worked in the construction industry and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Carl “Duck” Ellis, age 91, of Springfield, died Sunday, August 28, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Jeff Randolph and Brother Jerry Heflin officiating. Burial followed in the Elmwood Cemetery with Chris Randolph, Royce Crain, Rickey Crain, Eric Searcy, Gerald Ellis and Jacob Randolph serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was held Tuesday, from 12 noon until hour of service at 2:00pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Ellis was born February 12, 1925 in Robertson County to the late Marshall Sim and Georgia Wilson Ellis. He was a business owner and a member of Eastland Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents Mr. Ellis is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Randolph Ellis; brothers, Rayburn Ellis, Hassell Ellis, Cyril Ellis and Donnie Ellis; and sister, Edna Joyce Ellis.
He is survived by a nephew, Gerald (Denise) Ellis of Springfield; great-nephew, Will Ellis of Springfield; sisters-in-law, Erline Ellis of Springfield and Mary K. “Snooky” (Heuland) Biggs of Springfield.

Mrs. Joyce Thomas, age 84, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016. She is Preceded in death by her Parents: Clarence & Willie Mai Bailey. He was born April 16, 1939 in Greenbrier, TN to the late Willis Lawrence and Nettie Estella Smiley West. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Jean Wade. He served in the US Army Reserve and worked for Nashville Gas Company. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was very active in community service and was awarded the first ever Citizen of the Year award from Greenbrier, TN.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie Mae Reynolds West; son, Royce Alan (Kimberly) West; daughter, Wendy Gaye (Chris) Hughes; grandchildren, Brent Hughes, Heather (Joe) Minor and Demetria West.
