Large Tree Crashes Through Home In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield woman will be staying in a hotel tonight after a large tree in her back yard succumbed to the high winds this evening and fell over crashing through her roof.

Springfield Firefighters responded to the home located on N. Oak Street around 10:45 p.m. and evacuated the resident due to the damage to the roof and because power had to be turned off at the home. The tree also shorted out power to the home next door. Springfield Power is on the scene working as fast as they can to restore power to the neighbor but it will likely take a few hours to remove the tree from the driveway to gain access to the utility pole in the back yard.

According to Springfield Fire, the tree broke three joists in the attic and the there is no power to the home so it’s not safe for the resident to stay in the home. The Red Cross was made available to the woman but it looks like she will be setting herself up in a hotel.

The concern now is getting some kind  of temporary cover over the roof of the home before the heavy rains come Wednesday morning. The heavy rain is supposed to hit the Robertson County area around 5:00 a.m and last until about 1:00 p.m.
