Joe Macleod Picks Chief Deputy In Run For R.C. Sheriff

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Last week Joe Macleod announced that he’s running for Robertson County Sheriff. Now Macleod is announcing that he has chosen, long time Robertson County resident, Scott McLean of Greenbrier as his choice for Chief Deputy.

Macleod and McLean have known each other for years. Early on their careers both overlapped at the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office in the jail and currently they both work for the Springfield Police Department.

McLean has been at the Springfield Police Department for 17 years and is currently a Sergeant. Before working at the Springfield Police Department McLean was with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office for 10 years. He also owns Get-Fit, a 24 hour gym in Springfield.  McLean’s Full Resume

Joe Macleod  has about 27 years of law enforcement experience and he was born and raised in Springfield attending Springfield High School.

He worked for the Robertson County Sheriffs Department as a correctional officer before going to work for the Springfield Police Department in Feb. 1991. Macleod’s Full Resume.

Macleod and McLean told Smokey Barn News that they are running on a platform that will be strong leadership and accountability.

McLean said they also want to work on getting an increase in pay for the Sergeants and Patrolmen.

Other goals include putting a crime suppression team back out into the county and starting an Interstate-Interdiction-Program. The goal would be to put two or three Deputies on the interstate with a K9 unit to slow down the flow of narcotics through the county.
