Marcelo Vasquez Dies After Fall
At South Central Growers
On Wednesday, a worker at South Central Growers in Springfield was LifeFlighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center In Nashville in critical condition after falling from the roof of a greenhouse. Doctors worked hard to save the man but the injuries he sustained proved to be too much and he has died.
The name of the victim has been released, he is identified as 41 year old Marcelo Vasquez and South Central Growers has released the following statement on behalf of the family.
“The past several days have been very difficult as we mourn the passing of Marcelo. Our hearts go out to Marcelo’s family, we pray that God will give them grace during this time.”
Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday, March 16. The funeral service will be immediately following. Both the visitation and the funeral service will be held at:
New Beginning Baptist Church located at 2948 Union Rd in White House, TN
Flowers may be sent to the church on Monday.

The call came in around 2:00PM Wednesday afternoon. Emergency crews were dispatched to 4724 Hire Rd in Springfield. South Central Growers is situated directly across from the Robertson County Airport.
According to Fire Chief Chad Gregory with North Robertson Fire and Rescue, Marcelo fell some 15 to 20 feet from an empty greenhouse and landed on concrete. Gregory told Smokey he believed the worker was part of a construction crew that was working on a new section of the facility.
According to Russell Gupton, Assistant Director, Robertson County Emergency Medical Services, Marcelo was in, “Extremely critical condition with multi-system traumatic injuries.”
North Robertson Fire and Rescue, Robertson County Emergency Management Agency and Robertson County Emergency Medical Services all responded to the call.
South Central Growers reached out to the community with the following statement after Marcelo was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
“We are praying for wisdom for the doctors while they are treating our injured employee and that God will give grace to the family during this time.” Alex Van Der Hengst, South Central Growers, Inc.
