Millersville PD Identify Save-A-Lot Robbery Suspect

MILLERSVILLE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – On Saturday Millersville Police  responded to the Save-A-Lot located at 1129 Louisville Highway in Millersville, TN MAP in reference to an attempted armed robbery.

The gunman entered the store (see video below) taking a circuitous route to the register before pulling a silver and black handgun from his waist band. The suspect then threatened to harm the employees as he demanded money. The store employees refused and the suspect left empty handed.

Millersville Police tell Smokey Barn News they have now identified the get-a-way driver which has sequentially led them to the alleged gunman and one other alleged accomplice.

Police say, 20 year old Gregory Todd Gilley of Greenbrier, was the driver of the Honda Accord used as the get-a-way vehicle.

According to Detective Don Long with the Millersville Police Department, who has been working the case from the beginning, a tip from the public led him to the home of Gilley’s mother in Greenbrier where he found the get-a-way car.

Long said Gilley confessed that he was the driver of the vehicle. Soon after detective Long was able to identify the gunman who was already in custody in Montgomery County on unrelated charges.  Long says the third suspect (a juvenile) that he believes was also in the vehicle turned out to be the gunman’s younger brother.

Long says the night before the attempted robbery the three suspects, in the same vehicle, were stopped by Goodlettsville Police for suspicious behavior behind K-Mart. An informant told police that the three planned to rob another business but lost their nerve after the encounter with the Goodlettsville Officer.

The gunman’s name will be officially released following charges. Gilley was transported to the Sumner County Jail where he is being held on a $75,000.00 bond.

Detective Long says he has recovered the clothing, the gun and the vehicle used in the attempted robbery as well as GPS data linking the three to the attempted robbery.

Millersville Police and other agencies are looking at the three for possible connections to other crimes in middle Tennessee.

Detective Long said the stated reason for the attempted robbery was food.
