Power Outage In Springfield Affects Large Area

Around 8:45 a large tree fell on a power line interrupting power to a large area in Springfield. Memorial Blvd from Tom Austin Hwy to Kroger has been affected.

We have been told that it may take time to clear the large tree and repair the power line. By the area affected it must have been a main feed.

A Springfield Officer was standing out in the rain to keep traffic flowing at Tom Austin And Memorial Blvd but power has since been restored to that intersection.

The down tree is on Old Greenbrier Pike near the dump. (Exact location of damage)

10:54pm The Springfield Power department has managed to reroute some power to a few areas but the majority of the affected area will be without power for several hours.

Comcast tells us that about 2000 cable customers are affected.

road blocked power lineA portion of Old Greenbrier Pike between Legacy and Oakland Rd is currently closed (10:30PM) while crews work to remove the tree and repair the line. Crews don’t expect to have power or cable completely restored for several hours.

Are you without power? Please specify your general location to give us an idea of the affected area.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for most of middle Tennessee through the evening and overnight hours with more scattered thunderstorms expected throughout the evening. Some storms may be stronger than others with possible wind gusts up to 35 mph as a strong cold front moves in.
