R.C. Schools Director Mike Davis Announces Retirement

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – At the Robertson County monthly school board meeting yesterday Director of Schools Mike Davis announced that he will be retiring at the end of the school year 2017.

In a letter to the district Davis said he wanted to spend more time with his wholesale-nashville-2015-nissan-pathfinder-sv-2wdgrandchildren. Davis said Robertson County will hold a special place in his heart.

You may recall that Davis replaced Dan Whitlow as Director of Schools back in 2013.

Before coming to Robertson County, Mike Davis, was Dir. of Schools, Wilson County.  He was the Director of Schools at Scott County School System in Huntsville before that. He retired from the military in 2004, after 32 1/2 years in the Kentucky National Guard. Received bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a history minor in 1972 from Cumberland College, Williamsburg, Ky.; master’s degree, for elementary and secondary principal in 1976 from Union College, Barbourville, Ky. Completed the Rank 1 Program (master’s degree plus 45 hours), with certification for school superintendent, from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, 1978.

Below is the official resignation letter Davis submitted to Board Chair Connie Hogan.

“Dear Mrs. Hogan,

“Please accept this letter as notice of my plan to retire as the Director of Schools for Robertson County school District effective June 30, 2017. I have truly enjoyed working with the School Board, Central Office Staff, Principals, Teachers, and the members of our amazing support staff for the past four years. However, the time has come for me to step aside and retire so that my wife and I can spend more quality time with our grandchildren. Therefore, I am giving notice to the school board so that the process of finding and selecting a suitable replacement can begin.

“Again, I want to thank all stakeholders throughout Robertson County for their support, and please know that I will continue to fulfill my obligation’s as the Director of Schools through the end of my contract. Robertson County will always hold a special place in my heart and I look forward to following the districts future progress as you continue to meet the challenge of providing quality educational opportunities for the boys and girls of Robertson County.

Respectfully,

James M. (Mike Davis)
Director of Schools”

Robertson County Schools has yet to release a statement as to how they plan to replace Davis but they will likely begin the search process immediately.
