Race Car Enthusiast, Politician And Local Businessman Ken Brown Has Died, He was 51

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Local businessman, politician and race car enthusiast, Ken Brown has died, his body discovered by family early Monday morning, he was just 51.
Anyone that knew Ken Brown knew that he was almost always “On my last leg,” a phrase he said often following the loss of his right leg to diabetes. He would always cap off the phrase with a silly grin.
His son David Brown spoke to Smokey Barn News this afternoon as family and friends gathered at his Dad’s shop, Brown’s Body & Paint in downtown Springfield. MAP “The alarm was going off, he didn’t wake up.”
A steady stream of people from across the community are making their way through the shop on Main Street, police officers, firefighters, business leaders and friends all stopping by to pay their respects.
Ken was born in Frankfort, Germany in 1965 at an Army Hospital. He grew up in Nashville and graduated from Stratford High School. After High School, Ken attended multiple automotive related schools which kicked off a successful career in auto-body repair. Ken started Brown’s Paint & Body in 1989.
In 2012, Ken lost his lower right leg to diabetes and was fitted with a prosthetic. Despite the loss of his leg, Ken still enjoyed automotive racing and restoration.
Ken also liked fishing, hunting, watching football, and spending time with family. Ken was a supporter of the American Diabetes Association, Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Shriner’s Hospital.
In July on 2014 Ken, formerly announced his intention to run for the office of Robertson County Mayor.
According to his Facebook page, Ken’s favorite quote was “You can take that to the bank!”
