RC Sheriff’s Office: Five Juveniles Cited In Church Vandalism

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News)– The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched Sunday morning July 31, 2017 to a report of vandalism at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on South Carter Road in Cedar Hill. Upon arrival, deputies observed damage to the fellowship hall, a broken window, and damaged front door.

The investigation led deputies to determine that five juveniles began allegedly shooting fireworks in the parking lot at approximately 12:30am Sunday morning and subsequently allegedly broke a window to obtain entry into the fellowship hall of the church. They allegedly continued to shoot fireworks from inside the fellowship, discharged a fire extinguisher, and damaged the front door to the church.

“It is disappointing that individuals would have such a lack of respect for church property,” said Chief Deputy Michael Van Dyke. “I am very proud of our team for solving the case quickly and bringing those responsible to justice.”

All five juveniles were identified and cited with vandalism. They will be required to appear in Robertson County Juvenile Court.
