Springfield Dairy Queen Robbed Wednesday

Suspect In Custody

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Around 6 PM Wednesday evening a man walked into the Springfield Dairy Queen and demanded money.

Police say the suspect entered restaurant and ordered a meal, and as he prepared to pay, demanded money out of the register.  The suspect then placed his hand inside his jacket and stated he had a gun and threatened to shoot if he was not given any money.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.

According to Springfield police the man was not wearing a disguise. After looking at video surveillance of the robbery, Narcotics Agent Charles Consiglio with the Springfield Police department was able to quickly identify a suspect and within less than an hour that suspect was in custody.

According to police, the suspect, William “Bailey” Scoggin, 25, of Cedar Hill was captured just blocks away from the Dairy Queen. Scoggin was transported to the Robertson County detention center in Springfield.

Police say the suspect reached under his clothing like he had a weapon during the robbery but no weapon was seen or recovered.

Police tell Smokey Barn News that they believe they have recovered the stolen money and no one was injured during the robbery.

Scoggin will  be charged with Aggravated Robbery and Theft Of Property, Under $500.

UPDATE 8:22pm: According to Springfield Police, Scoggin confessed to robbing the Dairy Queen.
