Temps Could Dip Below Zero Tonight (Is Your Home Ready?)

The National weather Service says the temperature could dip below zero tonight. We have had several days of below freeing temps but tonight going to be bone chiller.

When the temperature dips below 18 degrees even salt/brine will not be enough to
keep the roads from refreezing. Try to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary.  The low temps can also put a load on home and building infrastructure. Plumbing is the Jewell storm damage ad 300 july 2014most vulnerable. Experts recommend letting the water trickle in a sink that is the farthest from where the water feed enters your home. It’s important to let both the hot and cold water trickle to keep pipes from freezing.

The low temps also mean that some specialized dog breeds might not handle the low temperatures as well as their wild counterparts. You may want to consider bringing them in for the night or making sure they have a good shelter from the environment.

It might also be a good idea to check up on your older neighbors to make sure they are set up for the big chill.

Lets hope this is the last of the cold spell. Smokey’s meteorologist Bill Jones tells us that it’s going to stay below freezing until sometime Saturday.
