THP Identifies Cedar Hill Teen In Fatal Weekend Crash

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released the name of the teen that tragically lost his life in an automobile accident Saturday night.

The young man is identified as 17 year old Landon D. Ross of Cedar Hill. According to a preliminary crash report issued by the Tennessee Highway Patrol Monday, Ross was driving a 1995 Dodge Ram north on Flewellyn Road when he crossed the center line, exited the roadway and impacted a tree.

The accident occurred around 11:00 p.m. Saturday Night. “A pickup truck left the roadway and hit a tree, broadside, on the drivers side. The 10 to 12 inch diameter tree then fell on top of the vehicle and the driver was pinned,” according to Pleasant View Deputy Fire Chief Derek Noe. Ross was pronounced deceased at the scene by Robertson County EMS who were the first to arrive on scene, according to Chief Noe.

According to the accident report, Ross was not wearing his safety belt but the accident investigator indicated that it would not have made a difference.

The THP has requested a drug and alcohol toxicology report according to a preliminary accident report obtained by Smokey Barn News. Drug and alcohol toxicology testing is generally standard procedure in an accident where loss of life has occurred.

Robertson County Schools released the following statement about the passing of Landon D. Ross.

On behalf of the Robertson County School Board and all district employees, we wish to express our condolences to the Ross family at the tragic loss of their son Landon.” Mike Davis, Director, Robertson County Schools

Pleasant View Volunteer Fire department, the THP, Robertson County Sheriff’s Office and Robertson County EMS Medic 5 all responded to the scene.

According to Ross’ obituary on the Robertson County Funeral Home website. Landon was born May 20, 1998 in Davidson County. He was presently a senior at Springfield High School and was a member of Heads Free Will Baptist Church. Landon worked at Pleasant View Milling. MORE

The Pleasant View Milling Company where Landon worked made the following statement on their Facebook page about Landon’s passing;  “Landon Ross was a great addition to Pleasant View Milling. He will be greatly missed. We are so sorry for his passing.”

Funeral services for Ross will be conducted Thursday October 29th at 3:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home. MORE
