Two Well Known Women In Greenbrier Pass Minutes Apart On 9/11

Libbie Jane Dawson Suter, age 73 (wife of Assistant Fire Chief Gary Suter of Greenbrier Fire Department) passed away after a long illness on Sept, 11th.. and Betty Ruth Drake, age 75, of Greenbrier, passed away Sept. 11, 2013. Both women died about ten minutes apart and both women were at the Centennial Medical Center, in fact their rooms were across the hall from each other..

Both women were well known in the Greenbrier area and will be missed by many. Visatation for both women will be held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home located at 2619 Hwy 41 S, Greenbrier, TN

Visitation times for both women overlap today (Friday) 4:00PM to 8:00PM and their services are as follows.

Libbie Jane Dawson Suter Visitation Saturday September 13th 1-3PM with services at 3:00PM.

Betty Ruth Drake Visitation Saturday September 13th 9-11AM with services at 11:00AM.

Visitation is today (Friday) Sept. 13 from 5-8pm and on Saturday from 1-3pm with the service at 3PM.

Jane Dawson Suter, age 73, of Greenbrier, TN passed away at Centennial Medical Center on Sept. 11, 2013.

Libbie was born in Greene County, Tennessee to Allie Graden and Mable Robeson Dawson on Oct. 31, 1939. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Savel, Eileen & Rebecca; brothers, Mose, Kyle “Hook”, Glenn, Duene “Pete”, Malone, James; great grandson, Carson Elijah Suter.

A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, 3PM at the Greenbrier Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Evans officiating.

She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for 43 years, past member of Eastern Star & D.A.R., Sunday School Teacher of the Womens Homemaker Class and member of Civitan Club. She loved to paint, read, talk, people, and camping on Kentucky Lake.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gary Suter; sons, Bryan (Tammy) Suter & Eddie (Michelle) Suter, both of Greenbrier, TN; brother, Donald (Peggy) Dawson, Jefferson City, TN; sister Lougene Douthet, Brooksville, FL; 5 grandchildren, Josh (Brittany) Suter, Carey Suter, Cristin Suter, Zach Suter, & Lucas Suter; grand granddaughters, McKennah & Ava Suter.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Final resting place will be at Robertson County Memorial Gardens.

The family requests donations are made “In Memory of Libbie Suter” to the Ebenezer Baptist Church Building Fund, C/O Austin & Bell Funeral Home, 2619 Hwy 41 S, Greenbrier, TN 37073.

ClarkBetty Ruth Drake, age 75, of Greenbrier, passed away Sept. 11, 2013 at Centennial Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by parents, Raymond & Cleo Margaret Dean Dorris & sister, Ann Laura Brooks.

A Celebration of her life will be held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier Chapel, Sat., Sept. 14 at 11 AM with Bro. Nathan Washburn officiating.

She loved her family and grandchildren, reading, playing cards, and just being in the outdoors whether she was gardening, walking or hiking. She worked alongside her husband for many years at Drake’s Automotive in Greenbrier. She was a long-time member of Greenbrier First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John R. “Johnny” Drake, Sr.; son John (Renee) Drake, Jr.; daughters, Jennie (Chris) Evangelist, Julia (Tony) Miller, & Joy (Mark) Keefer; brother, Bobby Ray Dorris; grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Blackburn, Joshua (Taylor) Evangelist, John William Evangelist, Eva Miller, Bryon (LeAndra) Miller, Jr., Sydney Drake, John “Johnny” Drake III, Maggie Drake, Sarah Keefer, William Keefer & soon to be, Eva Keefer; great grandchildren, Lilianna Pearl & Lyla Rose Miller.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 from 4-8pm & on Sat. from 9-11am the hour of the service.

Final resting place will be at the Drake Family Cemetery with Chris Evangelist, Tony Miller, Mark Keefer, Jason Blackburn, Joshua Evangelist, John William Evangelist, Bryon Miller, Jr., Johnny Drake, III, & William Keefer serving as the pallbearers.
