Walmart In Springfield Evacuated After Bomb Threat

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Smokey Barn News has confirmed with police that a Walmart employee received a call around 5:45pm Sunday evening about a bomb threat. Walmart management decided for the safety of employees and customers to evacuate the store. Walmart is currently closed while officials search the building.

Robertson County Emergency Management Agency and Emergency Management Services along with Springfield Fire and Springfield Police are on the scene.

UPDATE: Walmart has reopened as of 6:30pm. Walmart management have completed a search the facility and found nothing suspicious. After the search local Walmart management contacted corporate headquarters and the decision was made to reopen the Springfield facility, according to Captain Yates with the Springfield Fire Department.

Employees have been told (moving forward)  if they see anything suspicious  to alert management immediately, Yates said. All emergency response teams have cleared the scene.

According to Yates, the call was not traceable. “The call came in on an untraceable line,” Yates said.

A customer told Smokey Barn News that they were at the checkout line when an employee walked over and told them to leave the store now. Another customer said they heard a page telling customers that Walmart was evacuating the facility.
