Wind Triggers  Several Large Brush Fires In Robertson County Sunday

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Triggered by high winds and dry conditions, several large brush fires in Robertson County Sunday kept almost every fire department in the county in high gear.

transmission-exchange-300x250Fire officials were not able to provide a total on the acreage affected by the fires today but one fire alone consumed about thirty acres, according to Ridgetop Assistant Fire Chief Frank Friedmann.

There were at least four good sized brush/woods/grass fires in Robertson County pulling in resources from across the county. The U.S Forestry Service was called in on at least two fires to assist with bulldozers.

Firefighters responded to fires on Timber Trail in the Ridgetop area, Friendship Rd in Cross Plains, Gause Rd in Pleasant View,  Woods Rd in Springfield  and Carrs Creek in Greenbrier. MAP

Fortunately firefighters were able to keep the fires from destroying adjacent structures and there were no reported injuries.

Robertson County Mayor Howard Bradley released the following message. “As time goes by we will be facing significant burn dangers until we have protracted rains. Please exercise caution.”

It looks like we are getting some rain this evening but the next few days are projected to be dry.
