Robertson County Health Council’s (RCHC)

First Annual Spring Up 2013

The Robertson County Health Council along with their flagship sponsor Kidsville and other local community sponsors will host “Spring Up” on April 13th at J. Travis Price Park from 9 am –12 pm. The event will feature a 5k walk, kite flying, inflatables for the kids, special characters, community vendors and loads of family fun. Concessions will be sponsored by Old Hickory Credit Union and catered by the Masters Table. The event is being done as one of the RCHC’s goals to promote health, physical activity, good nutrition, and to support the development of the Bransford Center.  All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the “Bransford Revitalization Project.”  Bransford was deemed by one of the participants at the Council’s 2011 Bransford’s Box Lunch Awareness event, “as one of the most important projects in Robertson County.”

Chief of Police David Thompson is quoted as saying, “On a daily basis, at-risk children are provided academic assistance as well as reinforcement of positive values, so that they may grow into educated, informed members of our community in the future.”   The Center is currently open and serving around 30 children each day.  Funding from “Spring Up” will help with the Centers plans to offer summer camp activities and other programming to participants. “Spring Up” offers an opportunity for loads of affordable healthy family fun and a chance to lend a needed hand to the Bransford Revitalization Project.

Registration forms for the 5K walk can be picked up at: The Center,  United Way, Robertson County Health Department, UT Extension Office and the YMCA.  The cost for participation is $5 for adults, $2 for children 13 and up and children under 12 are free.  Kites will be given out to the first 100 children who register to participate in the kite flying. Volunteers will be on hand to help children get their kites into the air.

The RCHC is asking the community to “Spring Up” and bring your family and friends out for this healthy outdoors activity.  You will be glad you did!
