ADAMS TN: Planned Power Outage December 22
ADAMS TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Smokey has confirmed with CEMC (Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation) that, continued work on new Electrical substation will require an interruption of power service for the Adams Tennessee area.
The planned outage will be from 10:30am until 2:30pm Monday December 22. The work was planned for the 23rd but due to weather was moved to the 22nd.
According to a CEMC spokesperson, The timing was planned around school closures. The substation had served the Adams area for 60 years, it was just time to replace it to improve service.
Work on the new substation has been going on for several months now. According to CEMC, this substation serves about 1,500 customers.
TECHNICAL: This planned power outage is required to de-energize (cut power to) the existing Adams substation so that crews can convert all electric distribution circuits to the new operating voltage of the new Adams substation and to install a new transmission structure that feeds the new Adams substation.
“Several factors were considered during the planning of this outage to include weather conditions, Robertson County school schedule, and daylight operations for the CEMC and contractor crews that will be working during the outage. CEMC began construction on the new substation in Adams, TN in August 2014. This new substation will improve service and reliability for our members that have been served by the existing substation for the past 60+ years. CEMC is dedicated to continue to provide safe, reliable, and affordable electricity for its members,” the CEMX release indicated..
