FREE Beef Cattle Producers Workshop & Lunch March 9 (RSVP)
ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Beef Cattle Producers, there will be a FREE workshop (Must RSVP) on March 9 at the Tennessee Farm Bureau headquarters in Columbia at 147 Bear Creek Pike for folks who background cattle, whether they buy calves or raise their own. This workshop is sponsored by the Lower Middle Tennessee Video Board Sale Committee, Tennessee Livestock Producers, and UT Extension.
The day will begin with a free/sponsored breakfast at 8:30 sponsored by Tennessee Livestock Producers and video sale at 9am. The workshop will immediately follow the sale and will dismiss after the free/sponsored lunch. Lunch will be provided by Boehringer Ingleheim. (Must RSVP)
The workshop will feature:
· Dr. Mark Turney, a noted veterinarian who will discuss health management in backgrounding cattle
· Kevin Ferguson, UT Extension Farm Management Specialist, and he will be presenting a budgeting process that helps analyze costs and potential profits for backgrounded cattle
· Chris Swift of Swift Trading Company, who will discuss risk management and also give an in-depth market outlook
