Children Home During Drive By Shooting Friday Night (VIDEO)

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Friday night Springfield police were dispatched to a home located on Spruce St in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival police spoke to the resident, Wyatt Cragin, who told police that he had been driving in the area of 10th Ave and Josephine St when a gray vehicle with four black males approached him and shot twice at him, striking the grill of his vehicle and the drivers door.

Cragin said it was a dark gray foreign car with four doors and was very dirty. After being shot at, he told police that he fled the area and returned home. As he was exiting the vehicle at his home, the same gray car came speeding down Poplar St, shooting at him as it turned onto Spruce St.. Bullets struck two homes on Spruce St, one of which had children inside.

Springfield police recovered four 9mm shell casings from the roadway near Spruce St and Poplar St. No one was shot by the gunfire but several rounds hit the front porch lodging in a wall and another round entered a neighboring home penetrating an interior wall.

The suspects in the gray car fled the area going toward Hayes St. The neighboring residents were inside their home sleeping when the bullets struck.

Cragin told police he believes the shooting may have been retaliatory in nature by friends of Brandon Gardner who was shot and killed back in 2014. Cragin was charged with the shooting of Gardner last March and is currently out on a $200,000.00 bond. FULL STORY
