Cross Plains Votes YES On New Fire Tanker (Residents To Save)https://youtu.be/rPzsquHePcc

After a very thorough discussion at their Board of Mayor And Aldermen meeting Thursday evening, Cross Plains city officials voted to move forward on getting a new water tanker for the fire department. The decision will likely save their residents money on insurance and possibly even lives.

Cross Plains Fire Chief,  Tommy Jackson, has been trying to convince the city to buy the tanker for about six months. Jackson feels the tanker is a much needed resource to increase his departments ability to get water to where he needs it, fires. See Smokey’s video report for the full story.

Below is a map showing all the fire hydrants in Cross Plains. (To make them easier to see, each hydrant has been marked with a Smokey logo) If a fire occurs far from a hydrant then firefighters have to drive to the nearest one and shuttle the water back and forth with tankers.

The closer you live to a fire hydrant the lower your insurance rates. The new tanker will also lower insurance rates because insurance companies know it takes water to put out  fires, the more water you can get to a fire quickly, the less property damage there will be.
