Driver Killed In Coopertown Crash Early Sunday

STORY UPDATED…

COOPERTOWN TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – An early morning Hwy 49 crash in Coopertown Sunday has taken one life.

The crash occurred on Hwy 49 between Coopertown Elementary and Coopertown Middle School around 12:53 am. (location of crash) According to radio traffic,  a caller (traveling in the opposite direction) advised that they saw the vehicle leave the roadway.

After leaving the roadway, the vehicle, a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, impacted a tree head-on killing the driver. It was raining at the time of the crash and the roads were slick which may have been a contributing factor in the crash. According to Assistant Chief Russell Gupton with Robertson County EMS, the driver, now identified by the THP as, Kenna B Robards, 28, of Clarksville TN, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, preliminarily, Robards was traveling East on Hwy 49 W when her vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and into the grass where the vehicle struck a tree. Why Robards lost control and left the roadway is not known at this time.

According to the THP, Robards was not wearing safety restraints. The accident investigator, Trooper Joseph Olivas, concluded that if Robards had worn her safety belt it likely would have saved her life.

The THP, Robertson County EMS, the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office and Drake’s Towing & Auto Repair all responded to the call.
