Drugs Take Back Day Across Robertson County (Multi Locations)
The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office along with other local Police agencies in Robertson County will be hosting a Prescription Drug Take Back Event in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back.
Most prescription drugs come from family and friends. You could be a drug dealer and not even know it.
If you have unwanted or unused prescription drugs, you may drop them off in the containers set up for disposal with no question asked. The purpose of this event is to help prevent prescription pills from falling into the hands of children while reducing the potential for theft and resale to those who may become addicted.
The event will be on September 27, 2014 at locations listed Below:
- CVS parking lot on Memorial Blvd. In Springfield: Sept. 27, 2014 drop off old medication from 10am – 2pm. ALSO, meet the nurse practitioner for the BRAND NEW CVS MinuteClinic and enjoy music, food, games, face painting and win door prizes too all from 9:00 am – 5:30 pm.
- Walgreens 480 Hwy 76 in White House: Sept. 27, 2014 from 10am – 2pm
- Walgreens 217 S. Main St. Ashland City: Sept. 27, 2014 from 10am – 2pm
Again, no questions will be asked of any citizen wishing to dispose of unwanted or unused pills. You will not need to present proof of a prescription. This event is held annually every year to try and make the community safer for our children.
Flushed down the drain or disposed of in landfills, medications enter our ecosystems having an adverse effect on our drinking water and the environment. Most waste water treatment plants can’t remove drugs, ultimately these drugs can end up in our waterways effecting aquatic organisms, fish, wildlife and even us.
These Prescription Medications Will Be Accepted:
- Prescribed narcotic drugs (Vicodin, Oxycontin, etc.)
- Prescription medications
- Over the counter medications
- Medication samples
- Pet medications
- Medicated ointments/ lotions
- Vitamins
- Inhalers
- EpiPens (unopened)
These Prescription Drugs Will Not Be Accepted:
- Personal care items
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Aerosol cans
- EpiPens (used)
- Mercury products
- Iodine products
- Radioactives
- Business waste
- Empty containers or “sharps” (needles)
- No liquids
