PLEASANT VIEW TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A garage sustained heavy damage after a fire engulfed the structure Monday afternoon.

The garage is located in the 2400 block of Jack Teasley Road on the Robertson side of Pleasant View MAP. The call went out around 2:20 pm that flames were visible. The Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department and the White House Comunity Volunteer Fire Department responded.

Heavy fire was showing when crews arrived. Firefighters pulled two hand lines and made an interior attack bringing the fire under control quickly. Extensive overhaul had to be performed. Overhaul is the process of looking for hotspots in the structure that could cause reignition.

With no nearby hydrants, water had to be shuttled with tankers. The garage was used for storage and as a shop. Luckily there were no injuries and everyone was safe.

Firefighters were able to save about 50 percent of the structure. A lawnmower/tool shed located about 6 feet away was saved but did sustain a few spots with melted siding.

Firefighters also prevented the fire from spreading to an adjacent home located about 25-30 feet away from the garage, it sustained no damage. A vehicle that was parked inches from the garage door was also saved by firefighters with no damage.

The Coopertown Police Department and the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency also responded.
