Firefighters Stop Garage Fireball From Taking Home

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield family will be watching the Superbowl from their home Sunday afternoon thanks to local firefighters.

Around 10:30 pm Saturday evening, an outbuilding adjacent to a home located just outside Springfield became a fireball but thanks to local firefighters, the home is intact.

The home (located off Kinneys Rd near Rawls & Sons Auto Salvage) sits at the very edge of North Robertson Fire and Rescue’s coverage area MAP but, with the help of the Adams Fire Department, firefighters were able to save the home. The home suffered only superficial exterior damage.

It was a “great stop” as firefighters call it.  “There was no fire extension into the house,” according to Fire Chief Chad Gregory with North Robertson Fire & Rescue. Power service to the home was also not affected, leaving the home livable and safe for the family to stay in, however, the adjacent outbuilding is a total loss.

According to Chief Gregory, the cause of the fire may have been a heat-lamp for a chicken coop.

No injuries were reported and the fire is being labeled as accidental, Gregory said.

North Robertson Fire and Rescue, Adams Fire, the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, Robertson County EMS and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.

This fire was just the start of what would be a busy night for Robertson County firefighters. On their way back to the station from this fire, another call went out for another structure fire. It was a large Riverside Farms building located off Hwy 431 North of Springfield. When firefighters arrived the building was fully engulfed in flames. FULL STORY
