Fleeing Suspect Crashes Into Sudden Service In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – An attempt to flee from police was short lived for a suspect Monday evening in Springfield.

According to Springfield Police, around 10 pm officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant out of Sumner County on the suspect who had just pulled into the Sudden Service Gas Station located on the corner of Hwy 49 and Central Ave. MAP Police had information that the suspect might show up at the service station.

Police say when officers approached the vehicle the suspect hit the gas and fled behind the station. Officers quickly deployed spike strips but when the suspect emerged from the other side of the station he lost control and crashed into the safety bar at one of the gas pumps.

The suspect was quickly taken into custody. The suspect and one minor occupant in the vehicle were not injured in the crash and no other citizens, employees or officers were injured.

According to Springfield Police, the suspect will now be facing additional charges of Reckless Endangerment and Evading Arrest.
