Food Truck Ignites, Operator (RC Deputy SRO) Burned In White House
WHITE HOUSE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The operator of Tastee Shack, a mobile food service, has been transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center In Nashville with serious injuries after his power generator ignited.
We have now learned that the operator is Robertson County Deputy Wesley Compton. Compton is an SRO at Krisle Elementary.
The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement.
“Deputy Compton is in good spirits,” states Robertson County Sheriff Michael Van Dyke. “ We ask that you please keep Deputy Compton and his family in your prayers during his recovery”.
The fire started around 10:15 am as the vendor was setting up for a local event between the White House Fire Station and the White House Inn Museum located on Hwy 76. MAP
Witnesses told Smokey Barn News that the vendor may have been refueling the generator when the motor ignited. After the generator ignited, the vendor was either blown off or he jumped off the back of the pickup. Robertson County EMS called his injuries serious. We later learned that Compton actually jumped from the vehicle and wisely did a “stop-drop-and-roll.”
We have also learned that Compton will need time to recover but considering the situation, he’s in reasonable shape.
The fire caused heavy damage to the truck used to haul the trailer but the trailer itself was saved.
The White House Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and White House Police all responded to the fire.
