Harley Eating Railroad Crossing Getting Big Upgrade

Harley Eating Railroad Crossing Getting Big Upgrade

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) –  Back in September, Larry Nale was riding his brand new 2017 Harley Davidson Motorcycle when his rear wheel became hopelessly lodged in a hole in the middle of the railroad tracks at the Experiment Station Road crossing off Hwy 41. To make matters worse, a train was barreling down the tracks right at him.

Larry jumped out of the way in time to save himself but his bike was a goner.

The Nale’s told Smokey Barn News that CSX treated them fairly and the crossing was repaired.

For whatever reason, the repair didn’t take and a few weeks later the hole was back. Smokey Barn News started receiving messages from readers with photos of the hole that said: “It’s back!” We reached out to CSX and another repair was made.

Now CSX has decided to fix the crossing for good. This week they have completely removed all the concrete and asphalt at the crossing and are starting all over from scratch.

At the moment, the Experiment Station Road crossing off Hwy 41 is completely closed while CSX implements the makeover. Location of crossing.

As you can see in our photos below, the crossing should be beautiful when complete but more importantly, safe for many years to come.

If you would like to see what Larry Nale had to say the night his bike went to Harley heaven we have included our video interview with him from the nite of the crash below.
