Home Fire Displaces Greenbrier Family Of Five Late Friday

GREENBRIER TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Greenbrier family of five, mom, dad, an 11, 6 and a 2 year old have been displaced by a fire that caused heavy damage to their home Friday night.

The home is located on Sugar Camp Dr. in Greenbrier and is home to the Murphey family. The call to 911 came in just before midnight. MAP

Firefighters from Greenbrier, White House and Ridgetop responded to the call. Everyone made it out of the home safely and no injuries were reported but one cat (Oscar) was unaccounted for until a firefighter was able to locate the cat inside the home and brought him out to the family, the family was very grateful.

Firefighters responded quickly and saved better than half of the home. Captain Justin Hardway with the Greenbirer Fire Department, estimated the loss to be about 40%.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but the family told Smokey Barn News that they believe it was the water-heater.

Fortunately the family has relatives living near by and will have a place to stay tonight and while their home is being rebuilt.

The Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, Robertson County EMS, Greenbrier Police and Ridgetop Police also responded to the call.
