Ice Blamed For Greenbrier Wreck Early Sunday

GREENBRIER TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) A Greenbrier woman is at Vanderbilt Medical Center this morning with a possible broken leg after her vehicle encountered a patch of ice on Distillery Rd and crashed into a large tree.

ccording to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the 36 year old Greenbrier woman was on her way to work when the accident occurred.

carpet consultation 300 adAccording to Greenbrier Fire Chief Kyle Hamill, it took about 30 minutes to extricate the woman from the vehicle, a Ford Mustang.  Firefighters arrived on scene at 5:48am and by 6:17am the woman was freed from the vehicle. “We had to cut the roof off the vehicle to fully access the driver and her legs were pinned under the dash,” Hamill said.

The patch of ice on the roadway is being listed as the official cause of the wreck, speed was not a factor, the THP said.

The THP warned that the low temperatures have made parts of the roadways slick and advised drivers to slow down until the temperature comes up and the ice can melt.

Around that same time a pickup truck crashed into a home off College St, no injuries were reported.
