Obituary for Edward Vance Andrews, Sr.

Edward Vance Andrews, Sr., 89, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Mr Andrews lost his life in an automobile accident, click here for full story.

Born in Hartsville, TN, Edward was the son of the late Carsie Dan and Lou Annie (Vance) Andrews and the last of their seven children. He was retired as a quality control supervisor from the Nashville Ford Glass Plant where he worked for 38 years. He went to Ford in Detroit on several occasions as a respected expert in his area. He was a die-hard Ford man and wouldn’t have any other make of automobile. He was a member of the United Autoworkers Union. He also was a Nascar fan, an avid baseball and football fan and just enjoyed sports and supporting Vanderbilt, the UT Volunteers and the Tennessee Titans. On occasion he also watched the Nashville Predators and televised golf. Earlier in his life he was an accomplished builder and woodworker; and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

First and foremost in his life, however, were his children and his family. Edward is survived by his four children, Edward V. “Mickey” (Wanda) Andrews Jr., Elaine Andrews Hayes, Debra (Kevin) Ferrin, and Steven Andrews; 5 grandchildren, Leanne (Chris) Reeves, Stephanie (Josh) Vargo, Susan (Matt) Harper, Richie (Hope) Rediker, and Ryan (Brandi) Leath; 12 great-grandchildren, Gavin Reeves, Gabby (Tyler) LeVan, Caleb (Hope) Sabin, Kaitlyn Sabin, Matthew Manda, Braeden Pennington, Lily Jo Leath, Chance Rediker, Jacey Rediker, Isaac Stock, Brighton Harper, and Sydneigh Harper; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Emma Reeves, Mason Sabin and Weston LeVan.

floral squareVisitation will be held Saturday from 1 – 3 PM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, followed by a Life Celebration Service at 3 PM also at the funeral home. Interment will be held Monday at 2 PM at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Hendersonville, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the GoFundMe account of a great niece (Erica Tackett) who is recovering in Vanderbilt Hospital from a recent head-on collision.

Obituary for Floy Hatfield Graves

Floy Hatfield GravesFloy Ellen Hatfield Graves, 88, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday August 15, 2018 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday August 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the Elmwood Cemetery with Tim Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be Austin Wood, Michael Wood, Samuel Bernhardt, Myron Thurman. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home.

Mrs. Graves was born September 27, 1929 in Cedar Hill to the late Clarence and Lema Ogg Hatfield. She was a retired sales associate with K-Mart and was of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Graves loved quilting and sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Raymond Graves.

Obituary for James Clay Adams

James Clay AdamsJames Clay Adams, age 84, of Greenbrier passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at his residence.

The family will receive friends 12pm to 2pm on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Austin & Bell Greenbrier with Rev. Nathan Washburn officiating.

The funeral service will be at 2pm, Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

He was born in Lebanon, TN on February 11, 1934 to the late Thomas L. and Pauline Fakes Adams. He was also preceded in death by a son, Barry Adams.

James was a Veteran of the US Army and employed as an Elevator Constructor with IUEC Local 93.

floral squareHe is survived by his wife, Glenna Brown Adams; son, Scott (Kim) Adams; daughter, Kim (Ronnie) Holt; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mae Bennett and Nancy Beadle.

Pallbearers will be Michael Adams, Chris Adams, Philip Holt, Eric Holt, Marty Schmidt and JJ Adams.

Cindy MyersCindy Louisa Myers, age 51, of Joelton, Tennessee, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Nashville Community Care and Rehabilitation Center in Nashville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o’clock pm, Sunday, August 19, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Brother John Murray officiating.

Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00-6:00PM Saturday, August 18, and again on Sunday beginning at 11:00AM until the hour of service.
Ms. Myers was born on January 20, 1967 in Clarksville, Tennessee to the late Charles E. Weatherford.

John Cope, Jr.John David Cope, Jr., age 80, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his home. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 17, 2018 at 1pm in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Goodlettsville with Sister Julia Floyd officiating. Burial will follow. No visitation will be held prior to the graveside service.

Mr. Cope was born February 9, 1938 in Nashville to the late John D. and Mamie Polston Cope, Sr. He worked as a mechanic for General Motors.

Mrs. Williams was born on March 23, 1927 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Florian Albert and Addie Mae Darks Kilb. She was a homemaker and a member of St Martha Catholic Church.

June was born November 29, 1948 in Ridgetop, TN to the late Charlie C. and Gertrude M. Gober. She was also preceded in death by sister, Charlene Richardson and brother, David G. Gober, Sr.

Tammy MorrisTammy Annette “George” Morris, age 59, of Barren Plains, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at The Waters of Springfield on her Granny Morris’ birthday.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 6pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Frankie Kirby officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 4pm until the time of service at 6pm.

Ms. Morris was born November 16, 1958 in Springfield to Alford and Sammie Reid Morris. She worked as a Customer Service Clerk at Walmart and was a member of the Williams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She loved quilting and scrapbooking but especially loved her grandchildren who affectionately knew her as “Grunt”.

Ms. Morris is preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Reid and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Morris; her sister, Beverly “Baby Jane” Morris; and her sister-in-law, Tonya Palmore Morris.

Obituary for Carolyn Bearden Cox

Carolyn Bearden CoxCarolyn Bearden Cox passed away on August 13, 2018 at NHC Hendersonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Bearden Sr. and Willie Lollar Bearden; sister, Roberta Tucker; and brother, Claude Bearden, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth W Cox; daughters, Claudia McGill (Bob) and Melissa Hinson (David); three grandchildren, Andrew McGill, Macgregor and Murphy Hinson, and one brother, John Bearden.

Carolyn graduated from East High School; Ward Belmont College, and Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. She taught school for several years in Illinois and then in Nashville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville for over 50 years. There she sang in the choir and played in the hand bell choir for 30 years. She loved golf and held memberships at Blue Grass Yacht and Country Club and earlier at Old Hickory Country Club. She was a member of floral squarethe Nashville Women’s Golf Association and also served two terms as chairman of the Bluegrass Women’s “18 Hole” group.

There are no services planned at this time. A private interment service will be held later at the Nashville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
